Microsoft usually starts each month by announcing the new Xbox Game Pass games that will be coming to its popular subscription service in the following two weeks, but it didn't do so for April 2022. Perhaps not wanting to make any announcements on April Fools' Day, Microsoft decided to wait to announce the new Xbox Game Pass games for April 2022 until Tuesday, April 5, at which point it confirmed 10 titles coming to the service in various capacities.

As announced by Microsoft, the new Xbox Game Pass games for April 2022 are kicking off with Cricket 22 and MLB The Show 22 on cloud and console. MLB The Show 22 is a rather significant addition to the Xbox Game Pass lineup because not only is it a day one release, but it's also published by Sony. Due to Sony's licensing agreement with MLB, it has to release its critically-acclaimed MLB The Show games on other platforms, and Microsoft has used this opportunity to secure the game as a day one release.

April 7 will then see the release of another day one game in the form of Chinatown Detective Agency across cloud, console, and PC. Otherwise, April 7 is going to be used to add EA Play games to the Xbox Game Pass cloud. For the uninitiated, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers also get access to EA Play benefits, and starting April 7 they will be able to play EA-published games like Dragon Age 2, Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare, and Star Wars: Squadrons on the cloud.

The next notable day for Xbox Game Pass subscribers is April 12, which has Life is Strange: True Colors coming to cloud, console, and PC. Life is Strange: True Colors is the latest installment in the well-received Life is Strange series, and it's not even a year old yet, so it's somewhat surprising to see it making its Xbox Game Pass debut already. In any case, Xbox Game Pass subscribers on PC have Panzer Corps 2 and The Dungeon of Naheulbeuk to look forward to on April 12 as well.

And finally, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers can check out Lost in Random thanks to the service's EA Play integration. There will be even more new games coming to Xbox Game Pass in the second half of April, but it may be some time before Microsoft reveals those to subscribers.
