Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess is coming to Xbox Game Pass in 2024, Capcom has confirmed. The "action strategy" game inspired by Japanese mythology is yet another addition to the long list of titles that will have day-one Xbox Game Pass debuts this year.

Capcom originally announced Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess in June 2023, debuting its reveal trailer as part of Microsoft's late-spring Xbox Games Showcase. The stylish title was immediately confirmed as a day-one Xbox Game Pass release. However, its 2023 unveiling offered nothing in the way of availability details, with Capcom merely stating that the project is in development.

Xbox Game Pass Confirms 4 More Games for March 2024

Microsoft reveals four more titles that are set to reach Xbox Game Pass in March 2024, all of which will be debuting in the next two weeks.

New Kunitsu-Gami Trailer Narrows Down Its Xbox Game Pass Release Window

And while Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess is still without an official release date, Capcom has now narrowed down its launch window to 2024. It did so during the March 6 Xbox Partner Preview event, which also saw it share a new gameplay trailer titled "Kagura," after a type of ceremonial dance practiced in Japan by the followers of the Shinto religion. Literally translated as "god entertainment," this traditional dance is a major influence on Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess, which Capcom is describing as a "single-player Kagura action strategy" experience.

When Will Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess Release on Xbox Game Pass?

  • It is slated for a PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and day-one Xbox Game Pass release in 2024. Capcom has yet to share a concrete release date.

Capcom's Japanese folklore-inspired title wasn't the only day-one game for Microsoft's subscription service that was mentioned during the early March Xbox Partner Preview broadcast. The event also saw award-winning Polish developer 11 Bit Studios announce that its sci-fi survival game The Alters will launch on Xbox Game Pass on the same day it reaches its other target platforms. Much like Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess, The Alters is targeting a 2024 market debut but is still waiting for a concrete release date.

Given that state of affairs, it's plausible that both games will launch near the end of the year; anything sooner than a Q4 target would ostensibly require the projects to already be verging on completion, but that's seemingly not the case if their publishers still aren't ready to commit to more specific release windows as of March. Another day-one Xbox Game Pass title that's in a similar boat is Age of Mythology: Retold, a remastered version of Ensemble Studios' cult-classic 2002 RTS.
