The original Xbox was a great console with its fair share of brilliant titles that most fans remember fondly. Many iconic franchises established themselves for the first time on this console, allowing a huge swath of gamers to experience the kind of gaming that Microsoft was promoting with these titles. However, while several notable games were present on this platform, there were others that didn't see the light of day.

This is especially illuminating once players realize that the console also had its fair share of local multiplayer games that were a blast to play through in their own right. Some of these titles have become relics of a forgotten age over time, which is a shame since these games actually had some great ideas which were more effective when players shared these experiences with their friends and family. The most notable examples of the same are mentioned below.

10 Brute Force

A squad-based third-person shooter that is gritty and a ton of fun to play through, Brute Force is one of the original Xbox's hidden gems. It's a shame that the game doesn't get the credit it deserved.

Engaging in co-op gameplay while a group of friends controls each specialized member of the squad makes for a great time indeed. Brute Force is a great game for its time and fans of co-op shooters should try this game out if they have the opportunity to do the same.

9 MechAssault

A mech game with innovative gameplay elements, it's a genuine surprise that more people don't talk about MechAssault. This game had a great multiplayer component that obviously doesn't function nowadays.

However, players who manage to snag a copy of this game for their console can still try the 2-player Grinder mode. Teaming up with a friend and taking on wave after wave of challenging foes certainly makes for a great time indeed.

8 Deathrow

The idea of pitting death row inmates against each other in a violent game of frisbee, called Blitz, sounds like a pretty ridiculous idea. So, props should be given to Deathrow for making this concept a surprisingly engaging one.

7 007: Nightfire

James Bond in the game Nightfire

The James Bond games really took off after the success of GoldenEye 007. While other games in the series might not be all that popular, 007: Nightfire is a title that endeared itself to most fans upon release.

It's a shame that more people don't talk at length about this great title. Its local multiplayer mode makes for a chaotic yet fun time as four players try to hunt their friends down in the various multiplayer maps.

6 Hunter: The Reckoning

The idea of hunting down zombies as a group is a classic and proven idea of video games to play around with. So, it's easy to see why Hunter: The Reckoning makes for a really easy recommendation.

Teaming up with friends to take down these undead monstrosities makes for a ton of fun. It's a shame that not many people talk about this series since it definitely deserves its time in the spotlight.

The idea of a Mario Party for mature people isn't really the worst idea around, and Fuzion Frenzy definitely does a great job of giving this concept the attention it deserved. The end result was a great party game for the Xbox that many people don't even know about.

Engaging in a bunch of minigames across various modern environments makes for a great time indeed. Players who are lucky enough to own the original Xbox will have a great time checking this game out with their friends!

2 Def Jam: Fight For NY

The idea of hip-hop artists literally fighting each other to claim the crown of being the best rapper around is simply hilarious. This is one of the many reasons why Def Jam: Fight for NY was such a popular game at the time.

Out of all the games on this list, this title is perhaps the least 'forgotten' of the lot. The sheer number of crazy fights in this title makes it one of the better brawlers on the console.

1 Red Dead Revolver

Speaking of games that aren't forgotten per se, Red Dead Revolver is a great action-adventure that set the bedrock for the infinitely popular Red Dead Redemption series. However, even the biggest fan of Rockstar's western open-world games haven't really tried this game out.

It's a shame since Red Dead Revolver's story and gameplay are actually pretty great. It helps that the game also has local multiplayer where players could either shoot each other or the game's enemies across various maps and scenarios.
