Summary

  • Xbox has confirmed that it will delete more game captures on May 30.
  • It means that Xbox fans should back up their favorite moments.
  • Players can also update settings to save captures on USB or OneDrive to prevent accidental deletions.

May 30 is going to be a sad day for many fans of Xbox, as the company will begin deleting game captures on that date. The changes coming to Xbox will only be for content stored on the Xbox Network, so gamers storing their game captures through this will need to think of a backup plan.

This isn't the first time this deletion plan has been promised. Back in October of last year, Xbox confirmed that game captures that have been stored on the Xbox Network for 90 days or longer will eventually be deleted. Xbox has been making some big changes as of late, and it seems as though this new method of deleting game captures is just one of the many things the company is doing in order to evolve.

Xbox Giving Away Incredible X-Men 97 Console Complete With Wolverine Controller

Xbox is giving away an incredible X-Men 97-themed Xbox Series X console wrapped in an exclusive comic complete with a Wolverine-inspired controller.

This plan to delete game captures will go into full effect starting May 30. As promised before, screenshots and videos that have been stored on the Xbox Network for more than 90 days will be completely deleted. Although this is bad news for Xbox gamers who prefer to store their captures on the Xbox Network, there is at least a workaround that can keep captures from being abruptly deleted in the future.

Xbox Gamers Should Prepare for May 30

How to Bypass Saving Game Captures on the Xbox Network

  • Go to "My Games & Apps"
  • Go to "Apps"
  • Go to "Captures"
  • Choose to move game captures to an external USB or OneDrive

Xbox gamers can change the default settings in order to save game captures to a USB or OneDrive automatically. This will help gamers avoid accidentally saving screenshots to the Xbox Network, so they will no longer run the risk of being deleted. With so many games coming to Xbox this year, there will likely be many players wanting to screenshot some great moments, so changing the default settings of where game captures are stored will want to be done sooner rather than later.

Xbox gamers planning to save via OneDrive should note that free users have a 5GB limit.

Although it can be frustrating for some players who prefer to keep their screenshots on the Xbox servers, there are at least other avenues to save content.
