Xbox consoles received a helpful update on October 8, allowing Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S to detect new game updates sooner and more consistently. Xbox Insiders gain access to this new console update first, as Xbox updates typically undergo a gradual rollout to users in various regions.

The Xbox Insiders program allows its members to test out features and try out preview versions of OS builds that will be deployed to all Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S users at a later date. These updates are first released to the Alpha Skip-Ahead ring of Xbox Insiders, allowing them to test out the update and submit feedback on any issues that arise. Xbox users can sign up for the Xbox Insiders program for free and start as an Omega member. Over time, the user's Xbox Insider Level will increase, giving them access to preview builds at an earlier date.

The newest Xbox console update, version 2410.241003-2200, is now live for Xbox Insiders with multiple fixes that allow consoles to detect updates for apps and games sooner. Previously, an issue was interfering with the checking process for app and game updates, preventing these updates from downloading or taking longer than usual to download. Going forward, updates for entertainment apps, including Dolby Access, and Xbox games should take less time to download and install on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S consoles. The new update also makes various adjustments to properly reflect local languages on the console. Users may still see strange text appear in the console's UI, since Xbox is making tweaks to text that has not been localized in specific languages yet.

Xbox Insiders Update Applies Helpful Fix to Game and App Updates

  • Version 2410.241003-2200 was released on October 8 for Xbox Insiders
  • Games and apps will now download and install more quickly and reliably, thanks to the update's fixes.

Xbox is still working on known issues from the previous Xbox console updates, as the company's engineers require more time to develop and implement fixes. These known issues include friend request notifications showing up when someone adds the user as a favorite or shares their real name, and Xbox 360 friends appearing in both friends and following lists if they are added as favorites.

It's unclear when exactly all Xbox gamers will receive the latest console update, but the update is expected to fully roll out before the end of the month. On average, Xbox consoles receive one major update per month, with the last update having been released on September 25 for all users. The September 25 Xbox update gave users the ability to pre-download select game updates before they're released.
