On Monday, Xbox will hold its 20th Anniversary event and some fairly exciting announcements are expected, to say the least. One area of focus that's rumored regards older Xbox games, which would be surprising if it wasn't an event to reflect on some of the platform's biggest releases through the years. The latest evidence of this revolves around more than a dozen Xbox 360 games seemingly receiving updates overnight, the content of which remains mysterious.

While there's nothing certain surrounding the situation, speculation points to the 20th Anniversary as the reveal and official release of these updates and their nature. Obviously, new content for these aging games is almost certainly out of the question. However, there's an opportunity to release optimization patches for each of them to improve their performance or enhance them in more straightforward ways, whether solely for the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S or for the Xbox One as well.

Optimizations aren't a certainty, but it's unclear what else the mysterious Xbox 360 game patches could be for. Especially since most of the games included on the list are major game releases from AAA game franchises. In other words, they're titles that would make sense for big publishers like Electronic Arts, Ubisoft, and Sega to want to have improved for modern platforms.

The Xbox 360 game updates join a growing list of peculiar rumors spreading ahead of the Xbox 20th Anniversary celebration. Another example is the appearance of several games for the original Xbox console appearing on the Xbox marketplace, either returning after being taken down or being listed for the very first time.

Easily the biggest rumor ahead of tomorrow's Xbox 20th Anniversary is that the multiplayer half of Halo Infinite could launch on November 15. Datamined information from both the Xbox storefront and 343's own statistical data servers points to the possibility. Xbox fans will just have to watch Xbox's anniversary broadcast Monday at 10:00 AM PT/1:00 PM ET to find out for sure.
