Kelsey Grammer is one of several stars from Fox's X-Men franchise who will be reprising their iconic roles in Avengers: Doomsday, as the multiverse has been blown wide open. He will be reprising his role as Beast in the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe film, which is set to be released on May 1, 2026.
It will be the next step in bringing mutants into the MCU, which puts plenty of pressure on Avengers: Doomsday, as fan expectations will be through the roof. There has been no shortage of speculation regarding Avengers: Doomsday, which is to be expected given the movie's size and scale. A lot of the talk lately has been about the script, and Grammer has revealed what he knows about Marvel's upcoming project.
Marvel Needs To Explain The Whereabouts Of These Missing X-Men In Avengers: Doomsday
Marvel might be bringing the X-Men into Avengers: Doomsday, but the film must reveal why some will be missing.
Due to his cameo appearance in The Marvels, fans have already been given a teaser of what Grammer's version of Beast will look like within the MCU. That one was a big surprise for fans at the time, with the post-credit scene instantly getting fans talking and sparking hopes of more X-Men appearances. It also appears to be one of the reasons he was brought back, as Grammer explained to Literally! With Rob Lowe, while he also discussed what he knows of the script.
Grammer said, "They did this movie called The Marvels, and somewhere during that shooting, somebody called me and said, 'Would you come down, and we are going to do a little motion capture with you, and maybe we are going to put you at the end of the movie as one of those Easter Egg things.' I said, 'Sure, okay.' We did the little scene, and they put the blue on me, so I didn't have to dress up anymore. That was fantastic, and then it showed. They put it in theatres, and the response when they saw Beast was apparently pretty breathtaking. That was my ticket. They called me a while later and said, 'We want to put you in another movie,' so I'm really excited about it. I've had a preliminary introduction to the idea; they're still very secretive about the script."
The fact that Grammer is being tight-lipped about the script is no real surprise, considering Marvel always looks to keep details of its projects as close to the chest as possible. However, it may also be a concerning situation for some fans as there have been worrying reports about the script for Avengers: Doomsday still not being finished. That has been an alarming situation to many people, given the importance of this film to the overall franchise, but whether or not Grammer's role has been fully fleshed out is something only those involved will know about.
Grammer isn't the first person to claim they don't know much about the Avengers: Doomsday script, but evidently, some actors do, as filming has already begun in London, England. The Russo Brothers have shared a photo of Robert Downey Jr.'s chair online, while the Iron Man/Doctor Doom star himself has been openly uploading pictures of himself and the cast hanging out away from the set. Downey Jr. Has recently been on set filming a fight scene with Sir Ian McKellen's Magneto, which does give a slight hint that he could be going up against the X-Men at some point in the movie. That could see Grammer involved in a scene with Doom himself, but that will remain to be seen.
Grammer is set to be joined by many familiar faces from the mutant world, with Sir Patrick Stewart returning as Professor X, James Marsden playing Cyclops, Rebecca Romijn as Mystique, Alan Cumming as Nightcrawler, and Channing Tatum as Gambit. This will see a version of the X-Men be part of the MCU as a fully fleshed-out team for the first time in history, which audiences have wanted to see since it first began, and will create plenty of excitement and interest for fans within Avengers: Doomsday.
