According to a leak, wrestling fans won't have to wait too much longer for 2K's WWE 2K26, allegedly coming to current-gen platforms on March 13. The franchise has been putting players in the ring for over two decades, starting with 2000's WWE Smackdown. The series changed hands in 2013 following THQ's bankruptcy, allowing the Take-Two subsidiary to swoop in and continue to grow the games. Now, if the leaks pan out, wrestling fans are poised to spend the majority of their new year with WWE 2K26 in-hand.

As for what's been officially confirmed about the title, 2K Sports revealed an Attitude Era Edition of WWE WK26 alongside a Monday Night War and King of Kings Edition. As of this writing, there have not been any official details disclosed as to what's actually included in these special versions of the game. However, it would stand to reason that buyers would get some kind of additional benefits relating to the wrestlers and the titular era of the edition purchased. Pre-orders will go live on January 30, hopefully with more info about the contents available then. That said, this recent leak may give gamers an actual date to set their sights on.

WWE 2k26 Leaks Indicate Current-Gen Release on March 13

WWE 2K26 will launch on Friday, March 13 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC, according to French leaker billbil-kun of Dealabs Magazine. The info was later translated and partially corroborated by Insider Gaming, along with the notable detail that the Nintendo platform version will indeed offer a physical cartridge option. Initially, billbil'kin's report didn't note a PC release, but it was later updated to include the ever-popular platform. That does fall in line with the WWE 2K26 release window shared in a Take-Two fiscal report. However, that still leaves out one particular console demographic. If this news turns out to be accurate, some players will be happy, but it may also alienate those with last-gen consoles like the PS4 or Xbox One.

There have not been any details, as of this writing, about versions of WWE 2K26 for older systems. With some of the marketing for the game already in full swing and the release date leaked to a little over a month away, there's a chance that there might not be versions of WWE 2K26 for older consoles. Of course, that only tracks if the leaked console list is entirely accurate. The Switch 2 release was corroborated by another outlet, but that's not iron-clad as a confirmation in any direction. While billbil-kun is a notable leaker for a reason, it doesn't necessarily mean their info is constantly 100% accurate. All WWE 2K26 leaks and rumors should be taken with a grain of salt until the information is confirmed officially by a publisher or developer.

If the supposed consoles aren't accurate, well, then that speaks for itself, as the only other inclusions that would make sense would be last-gen systems. At the same time, if players want to see meaningful advancements in features and fidelity, it will eventually mean leaving older, less capable hardware behind. Now, that may not be a sacrifice every gamer is willing to make, but at some point, 2K is going to make that decision for players. It may not be right now, but wrestling fans won't know for sure until 2K offers some official info or, hopefully, on January 30, when pre-orders become available. For now, prospective buyers can try to wrap their heads around how a leaked WWE 2K26 CM Punk showcase might work amid the ongoing Vince McMahon scandal.
