2K Sports has officially revealed the special Attitude Era Edition for the upcoming WWE 2K26, featuring several iconic superstars of the late 1990s and early 2000s. The annual wrestling franchise has often placed a particular spotlight on some of the most beloved wrestlers and athletes from throughout the organization's storied history in each game. Last year's WWE 2K25 not only featured Roman Reigns as its main cover athlete, but also launched the Deadman Edition as an homage to The Undertaker. However, the WWE's Attitude Era is one that fans just keep coming back to as the organization's peak.

The Attitude Era is often looked at as one of the greatest ages of the WWE, seeing the rise of plenty of big names. The Attitude Era boasted a litany of iconic WWE Superstars like "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, Triple H, and The Rock as its biggest talents. The era is characterized by its shift towards an adult-focused demographic, with more violent and risky matches alongside multiple bombastic and gritty athletes seeing their rise. Now, WWE 2K26 is giving fans the chance to relive the Attitude Era, with a special release edition centered around some of its biggest stars.

WWE 2K26 Is Going Back to the Attitude Era

2K officially unveiled the "Attitude Era Edition" of WWE 2K26 with a brand-new teaser trailer on Friday evening. The Attitude Era Edition release is set to feature some of the WWE's biggest stars of the late 1990s and early 2000s, including everyone from Kane and The Undertaker to female Superstars like Trish Stratus and Lita. The trailer did not reveal any special content related to the Attitude Era coming to WWE 2K26, though, much like 2K25's Deadman Edition, the Attitude Era Edition will likely come with some exclusive perks. WWE 2K26 is currently expected to release in March, with pre-orders officially opening for the game on January 30.

While WWE 2K26 did not reveal the bonuses coming with the Attitude Era Edition, the teaser trailer could potentially be hinting at some featured content. The trailer featured one of the Attitude Era's most iconic matches, showing The Undertaker and Mankind's notorious Hell in a Cell match from 1998, possibly giving fans the chance to re-create the match. "Stone Cold" Steve Austin was a heavy focus throughout the trailer, with the Attitude Era star likely receiving some special content in the game. The game's logo may also tease the return of the Hardcore Championship.

WE 2K26 Has Plenty of Avenues to Honor the Attitude Era

WWE 2K26 won't have to look far to find inspiration for its Attitude Era content, with past WWE games highlighting the era. 2012's WWE 13 put a major focus on the Attitude Era with its own exclusive game mode, drawing from some of the biggest storylines of the period. WWE 2K16 similarly starred one of the most beloved talents of the Attitude Era, with its "2K Showcase" mode following the career of "Stone Cold" Steve Austin. The game could add more obscure Superstars to the roster as well, with WWE 2K25 already featuring many of the Attitude Era's biggest talents.

WWE 2K26 looks to have lots on the way to excite fans beyond the Attitude Era Edition. Leaks have suggested that WWE 2K26 will feature a brand-new Showcase mode centered around beloved superstar CM Punk, likely focusing on some of the biggest moments in his career. WWE 2K26 has also already confirmed several wrestlers who will be featured on the game's roster, including a slew of today's biggest stars ranging from mainstays like Kofi Kingston and Asuka to newcomers like Myles Borne and Zaria. WWE 2K26 is set to bring something for both new and longtime fans of the WWE with its launch in March.
