WWE 2K25's post-launch roadmap is well underway, and its 4th DLC pack is set to release on September 17th. Titled the Attitude Era Superstars Pack, it puts the spotlight on what many consider to be the most successful period in WWE history, the Attitude Era. The legendary New Age Outlaws, a tag team made up of Billy Gunn and Road Dogg, as well as D'Lo Brown, Mark Henry, and Victoria are included in this WWE 2K25 pack.

The Best War Games recently sat down with WWE legend Road Dogg to discuss his inclusion in the Attitude Era Superstars DLC pack. He discussed some of his career highlights and how he may have fitted into the modern era. This interview has been edited for clarity and brevity.

WWE 2K25's Newest DLC Introduces a Legendary Tag Team

RoadDoggWWE

The Best War Games: You were part of one of the most charismatic teams in wrestling history. For the younger generation that may only know you through this game, what do you hope they pick up about your style that made the New Age Outlaws so unique?

''I'd probably have to say to them, watch those first couple of months of the Outlaws before we joined DX. It really is what set the pace for us, kind of being troublemakers and smart asses. But we were also able to carry ourselves in the ring against teams like the Road Warriors and wrestlers like Barry Windham and JBL, Ron Simmons, Mark Henry and D'Lo Brown, who are in this 2K25 DLC package with me, along with Victoria and Billy. But yeah, man, I think they would have to go back and watch us having some fun. You know what I mean? Because when we joined DX, it got pretty serious, pretty quick. And then, of course, everything evolved from there, and people started having fun with it. And that's when you get to see that awesome entrance. Oh yeah, and you get to see that entrance in the game!''

The Best War Games: When you look at the current superstar roster in WWE 2K25, aside from the Attitude Era legends, who would you like to tag with, who would make the most interesting partner?

''If it was an intergender match, which they're doing now with this new stuff, it would be me and Rhea Ripley versus the world! And if it was a dude, I would probably stick with Billy Gunn. But if it was a new guy, I would say Austin Theory. I'm a huge Austin theory fan. I think he has yet to reach his potential.''

The Best War Games: Are there any superstars in the current roster that you look at and see a little bit of yourself in, and if so, why?

''Wow, maybe Grayson Waller. Look, he's not the greatest wrestler in the world, and I think he would tell you the same. I think he's good, way better than good enough, but he's got the swagger, and he's got the confidence, and he brings his game on the microphone. I think probably him. I would hope that everybody on the roster is a better wrestler than me!''

How WWE 2K25 Captures More Than Just a Superstar's Appearance

RoadDoggWWE2K25

The Best War Games: WWE 2K games are not just about the matches. They're also about trying to capture the wrestlers’ personality, their image, their style in general. When you see yourself as a DLC character, is there a little detail or something that makes you think, yeah, that's Road Dogg?

''Well, it was the huge biceps and shoulders that I saw. I thought, wow, they really nailed it there! No, to be quite honest with you, it's everything that they did. They not only got the face and the facial construction, everything down to my movements and even the body language is even similar. It's kind of weird to watch me on there and go like, wow, they nailed it, and to think they did that with how many characters, however many characters there are. It's just crazy what they can do today, you know?''

The Best War Games: You've been in lots of wrestling games over the years. When you look at where wrestling games started out, and where they are today, what do you think is the biggest difference in terms of how you're portrayed in games now versus how you were back then?

''Well, I know this is probably a negative for some people, but I think the fact that the gaming community, the world, I would argue, knows that wrestling is not necessarily a real sport. It’s a television show that's very aggressive and painful and all the above, but it's not a legitimate sport or sporting event. So I think that has literally helped in some ways, because the gamers want to play games that are smart and clever and challenging, even to them in their minds, and I think that's what creative booking and stuff like that does.

I know we've let you behind the curtain with our Netflix show, but this allows the gamer to be the booker for a whole era, the whole Attitude Era, if they want to! I think it got smarter. And of course, it's the visuals that are always going to get our attention. If it's visually pleasing to the ocular cavities, it helps! But yeah, these days, everybody's smart in terms of our business, and they get to play the game from an educated standpoint.''

Road Dogg on the Best Matches of His Career

The Best War Games: You're involved in creative now. If Road Dogg was to have his own Showcase mode in 2K25, which matches from throughout your career would you like to be included?

''I just recently watched myself versus China in the 1999 King of the Ring qualifying match. I laughed, I cried. I did all the above and for all the reasons you can imagine. It was a wrestling match between me and this female, and she was with me as far as physicality is concerned. Absolutely, she brought far, far more than I was bringing to her. And we had a match with great moments. It was a masterclass in how you do this, how you set this up and how you do this. When I watched it back, I was surprised that I was that good. I thought, wow, that was incredible.

Anyway, I've seen a couple more that stand out. The dumpster match at Wrestlemania 14, of course. Then there's maybe one on SmackDown, but it might be Raw, I'm not sure. I had a hardcore match with Big Boss Man for the hardcore title. I beat him for the hardcore title that night with the help of Mick Foley, he threw a net over Boss Man, and I pinned him. It was a great match. Then another one is Al Snow. We had some incredible hardcore matches. In one, he picks up a Christmas plant and throws it about 30 feet. It hits me right in the face. We had some good wars. They would need to be included for sure, with my commentary, of course!''
