WWE 2K25 is one of the many games in the sports genres that have been confirmed for the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. Among its fellow sports titles, WWE 2K25 is further proving that the Switch 2 is set to be a solid console for a variety of sports fans. Whether it be soccer, football, racing, or WWE 2K25's wrestling show-downs, the Switch 2 covers a lot of ground.
The presence of WWE 2K25 is exciting for a lot of wrestling fans who also happen to prefer Nintendo, but it also sets the stage for the wrestling company's biggest competitor to respond. AEW has yet to prove itself as a consistent competitor to WWE in the gaming space, but the Switch 2 could be the perfect platform for the newer wrestling company to go head-to-head with the more established organization.

WWE 2K25 On the Switch 2 Presents AEW With a Challenge That Could Become a Great Opportunity
A Follow-Up to AEW Fight Forever Has Been Anticipated for a While Now
- AEW Fight Forever was released on June 28, 2023.
- The game was released for PlayStation, Xbox, and the original Switch.
Because of the sheer size of WWE as a company, games centered around the organization have been able to come out at a far more consistent pace. As the WWE 2K series continues to lap AEW's gaming aspirations, a follow-up to AEW Fight Forever will have to come out swinging in order to one-up its competitor. Of course, since the Switch 2 is backward compatible, AEW Fight Forever can exist on the console in that way, but AEW is hopefully being far more ambitious.
The AEW was founded in 2019 and is currently the third most lucrative contact sports organization. The UFC takes first place, while the WWE takes second. Despite being a newer company, AEW is already worth a whopping $2 billion.
AEW Hopefully Debuts Something Sooner, Rather Than Later
Right now, the hype around the Switch 2 is at one of the highest points it has ever been. Of course, there is some controversy surrounding the console because of price points, but an AEW Fight Forever sequel being announced either before or sooner after the Switch 2's launch could be useful for its marketing.
The Switch 2 could be the perfect platform for the newer wrestling company to go head-to-head with the more established organization.
If AEW waits too long, not having the excitement of a brand-new console to piggyback on could hurt the next game's launch. Since it's a smaller company than WWE, AEW needs to go at any angle it can in order to put itself in the spotlight. AEW and WWE are wrestling's very own David and Goliath situation, and the Switch 2 might be a great way for the former to present a fun challenge to the latter.
Other sports titles confirmed for the Switch 2 include EA Sports FC 25, Madden, and NBA 2K.
AEW's Underdog Status is More of a Strength Than a Weakness
Even though the AEW isn't as lucrative as WWE, the company has managed to pull off some impressive numbers in a really short amount of time. The organization's quick rise proves that AEW shouldn't be underestimated. However, it just really needs to double down on its marketing, so AEW can be just as prevalent in pop culture as WWE.
With WWE having its hands deeper in the gaming industry than AEW, the former offers fans an extra level of interactivity that the latter is sorely lacking. A new AEW game launched within the first year of the Switch 2 may be a pipe dream for wrestling fans, but the company would be wise to act fast to keep pace with the hype train.
