Summary
- WWE 2K25 mistakenly calls the late Brian Pillman a WWE Hall of Famer.
- The game features over 300 playable wrestlers, including new additions like Pillman's son Lexis King.
- Fans speculate Pillman may be included in a future Hall of Fame class.
WWE 2K25 contains a line of voiced dialogue that incorrectly identifies Brian Pillman as a member of the WWE Hall of Fame. While the late Brian Pillman doesn't appear in WWE 2K25, his real-life son does, and a recorded line from longtime commentator Michael Cole piles an accolade on Pillman's career that has yet to be bestowed.
The roster of WWE 2K25 boasts the largest selection of wrestlers of any game in the franchise's history, with more than 300 playable wrestlers. That number includes active members of the RAW, SmackDown, and NXT rosters, legends of the past, and original creations from the development team at Visual Concepts.
WWE 2K25's Devil's Kiss Move Explained
WWE 2K25 recently added Stephanie Vaquer to its roster, which means that her viral move, The Devil's Kiss, is officially in the game too.
Pillman, a former tag team partner and rival of Stone Cold Steve Austin who tragically passed away of a heart attack while under contract with WWE in 1997 at the age of 35, isn't among that number, but his real-life son, Lexis King, is one of more than 30 new wrestlers in WWE 2K25's base game roster. As pointed out by Reddit user Sad-Ladder7534, a line of in-ring commentary delivered by Cole identifies King as the son of a WWE Hall of Fame member. Pillman began his wrestling career with WCW in 1989, forming The Hollywood Blonds alongside Austin in 1993, but fans of WWE specifically may remember him for his intense feud with Austin and his affiliation with The Hart Foundation in the mid '90s. While fans of the Attitude Era likely have vivid memories of Pillman's work, he has never been inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame.
WWE 2K25 May Hint at Future Hall of Fame Inductee
The WWE Hall of Fame induction ceremony is held in April of each year, usually just before the annual WrestleMania event. WWE 2K25 was released on March 14, just over a month before this year's ceremony, but Pillman was not included in this year's Hall of Fame class. While the game includes other immersion errors, including weird typos on WWE wrestlers' clothing and The Rock removing the wrong elbow pad when performing The People's Elbow, at least one fan believes the voiced line may be a hint at Pillman's posthumous inclusion in a later Hall of Fame class.
This player also wonders whether Pillman may appear as a surprise release in an upcoming WWE 2K25 DLC pack. Pillman's estate reached a Legacy Contract with WWE in 2024, allowing for new merchandise featuring his name and likeness, and while there are still two special celebrity guests yet to be revealed in the DLC release schedule, Pillman's name has not been officially mentioned.
