Watching a Superstar being put through an announcer's table or thrown from the top of a Hell in a Cell can actually be quite shocking, but really helps to emphasize both the strength and the physical endurance that some of these phenomenal athletes possess. However, the most emphatic display of sheer strength and brute force comes courtesy of those rare instances when two Superstars somehow manage to break the ring.
Just as they are able to in previous WWE 2K games, players can break the ring in WWE 2K23, though doing so requires certain conditions to be met. Thankfully, these conditions are fairly simple when all's said and done, meaning that those hoping to destroy the squared circle can do so with relative ease. This guide will explain how to break the ring in WWE 2K23, while also offering some troubleshooting techniques for those who find themselves having trouble pulling it off.
How to Break the Ring in WWE 2K23
In order to break the ring in WWE 2K23, players will require two things. First, they'll need a Superstar who is heavy enough to actually cause the ring to collapse, which means picking somebody from the Super Heavyweight class; the heavier the better. Next, they'll need somebody strong enough to lift them. Logic would suggest that another Super Heavyweight would be able to get the job done, but this isn't actually the case. Instead, players should choose a Superstar from the Heavyweight class.
Generally speaking, any Heavyweight vs Superheavyweight combination will do, but there are a few exceptions. For example, whether or not a Superstar is heavy enough to break through the ring seems to be determined by their exact weight rather than their weight class, as evidenced by the fact that Undertaker '98 can't be slammed through the ring despite him being a Super Heavyweight. Custom Superstars do work, but again, players should make sure that they are on the heavier side.
It's also worth noting that the Heavyweight Superstar that players choose will need to be able to perform a Superplex. Most of them can, but there may be a few who can't, so players should check before setting up the match. In previous WWE 2K games, players hoping to break the ring had to make sure that knockouts were turned on as well, but this isn't the case in WWE 2K23. To be clear, breaking the ring will still be classed as a knockout, but it can be done even when knockouts are set to off in the "Win Conditions" menu.
Once everything has been set up correctly, players should start the match and begin dealing damage to the opposition. Exactly how much damage is required appears to be random, as, on some occasions, the ring can be broken when one of the opposition's limbs is yellow, while others require the head or body to be red. Generally, though, the ring can be broken once the damage indicators for the Super Heavyweight's head or body have turned orange, so this should be the player's target. To speed things up a little, it can help to target a specific body part.
When enough damage has been dealt, players should send their opponent into the corner using an Irish Whip and then flick the right analog stick up while standing near them to lift them onto the top turnbuckle. Depending on which Heavyweight Superstar they're controlling, they'll then need to press either X or Circle (PlayStation) or A or B (Xbox) to perform a Superplex, which should hopefully break the ring. If not, they'll need to deal some more damage and then try again until it does.
How to Break the Ring in WWE 2K23 (TLDR)
- The player will need to be controlling a Heavyweight Superstar with access to the Superplex move.
- The other Superstar should be somebody from the Super Heavyweight class; the heavier the better.
- After starting the match, players should damage their opponent until at least one limb turns orange.
- Next, they should either Irish Whip or drag the damaged Superstar into one of the four corners.
- Once there, they'll need to lift them onto the top turnbuckle by flicking the right analog stick up.
- Finally, with the Super Heavyweight Superstar seated on the top turnbuckle, players can perform a Superplex by pressing either X or Circle (PlayStation) or A or B (Xbox).
- If the ring doesn't break ring straight away, they should deal a bit more damage and then perform another Superplex.
- In the event that the ring still won't break even after the Super Heavyweight's damage indicator has turned red, players may need to start over with a heavier Super Heavyweight.
