Wuthering Waves perfectly portrays their 4-star characters as they occupy every role in the game. From DPS to Supports, every role has a 4-star character that looks like the budget version of their 5-star counterparts.

9 Taoqi

Needs Sequences To Save her

Taoqi is a shielder with some DPS qualities in Wuthering Waves. Unfortunately, her kit falls flat when compared to other units. Other than her conflicting scaling, Taoqi takes so long to fill her Concerto Energy, which delays the entire team’s rotation. The duration she needs to get her Outro Skill is enough to put Taoqi at the bottom of any tier list in Wuthering Waves.

After unlocking some of her Sequence, Taoqi starts performing better and dealing more DMG. However, there are still better choices than her when it comes to DMG or sustain.

8 Chixia

Amber But Different Pew Pew

As a main DPS, nothing is going on in Chixia’s kit that can save her DMG. Chixia mostly depends on her Resonance Skill to deal DMG, which is not good since it doesn’t do that much. Additionally, as a Pistol user, Chixia isn’t free to move around while safely shooting enemies from a safe distance since you need to stay locked to targets while holding down her Skill.

Chixia’s Sequences saves a little bit of her DPS but not enough to be compared to other characters. Fortunately, her kit is very fun and that should be enough for anyone who wants to main Chixia in Wuthering Waves.

7 Yuanwu

Struggle With Scaling

It’s not easy to use Yuanwu in Wuthering Waves due to his conflicting scaling. On one hand, he’s an off-field Sub-DPS with unique Supportive abilities. However, he scales with DEF, and that makes him unable to use any of the offensive main Echoes or pair with ATK-focused teams.

It’s better to play Yuanwu as a third-wheeler in his team while using Bell-Borne Geochelone or Impermanence Heron on him. Once you know exactly what you want from Yuanwu, he becomes very useful and able to fit in many of your team comps in Wuthering Waves.

6 Aalto

Swift as the Wind

Aalto is a strong 4-star Sub-DPS in Wuthering Waves. During combat, Aalto’s mechanics are very smooth as he swiftly moves around enemies with his Aero powers. Add to that his ranged combat style with his Pistols, which allows him to be even smoother when fighting.

Aalto is not only swift with his movement, but he’s also able to get his Outro Skill very quickly, which buffs the next characters’ Aero DMG by 23%. His Outro Skill makes him compatible with Aero units such as Jiyan, Jianxin, and Yangyang.

5 Baizhi

Verina at Home

As a 4-star healer, Baizhi’s kit is very similar to Verina, one of the best 5-star healers in Wuthering Waves. However, Baizhi’s kit is not as good as Verina, and you’ll need to unlock her Sequences to improve her performance. Keep in mind that she’s still a healer, which is rare in Wuthering Waves, considering there aren’t many healers to compete with Baizhi.

While most characters buff the next unit coming after them, Baizhi is a healer who can universally buff her teammates and can rock the Rejuvenating Glow Echo Set. With her Main Echo by her side, Baizhi is one of the best Supports in Wuthering Waves.

4 Danjin

Wuthering’s Kamikaze

Playing Danjin is basically playing Wuthering Waves on hard mode. Fortunately, taking this much risk when playing her is rewarding since she has some of the highest DPS in the game. While Danjin is not swift enough and may take more than usual to fill her Concerto meter, the team doesn’t lose DPS when she’s on the field because of her high DMG.

Not only that, but she can easily transition into a Sub-DPS and leave the field for the next Havoc unit to enjoy her Outro Skill’s buff. This is most effective when combining Havoc Rover and the Dreamless Echo in WuWa.

3 Yangyang

Great Battery

Yangyang operates like a true Anemo unit in Genshin Impact without the Elemental shredding. Yangyang possesses a strong CC ability by being able to collect enemies together with her Resonance Liberation. She can also do so with her Skill, but not as effective. Not only that, when she leaves the field while triggering her Outro Skill, Yangyang operates as a battery and fills the next characters’ Resonance Energy, which can be very important for some units.

All in all, as a 4-star, Yangyang is one of the best Supports in Wuthering Waves, and her Sequences only make her more Supportive and better in general.

2 Sanhua

Swift and Effective

The idea of having a Glacio character like Sanhua in every team is appealing since she’s quick and effective with her combos. Sanhua buffs Basic ATK with her Outro Skill while having a strong kit that outclasses most DPS units. She sets all her ice on the field within a few seconds before Heavy ATK them to deal some notable burst DMG.

Characters that need a Basic ATK buffer should always feel comfortable knowing Sanhua is most probably going to be on their team in Wuthering Waves.

1 Mortefi

Jiyan’s Best Friend

Not only is he one of the best 4-star characters in Wuthering Waves, but Mortefi also competes with other 5-star units for this title. His ability to rotate and swiftly get his Outro Skill back in a few short seconds is always useful for any Main DPS during combat. Mortefi also greatly buffs Heavy ATK DMG with his Outro Skill while providing a decent amount of off-field DPS after he casts his Resonance Liberation.

This Sub-DPS and Supportive combo makes Mortefi a perfect pair with characters like Jiyan, Clacharo, and many others. He’s also capable of carrying his team by operating as their Main DPS, which earns him a spot among the best DPS in Wuthering Waves.
