Despite strong sales, the new Soulslike Wuchang: Fallen Feathers has been met with an instant review bombing from Steam players, falling to "Mostly Negative" reviews on the platform. Most of the ire towards Wuchang: Fallen Feathers on PC appears to be aimed at the performance of the Unreal Engine 5 title.
Interestingly, the reception of Wuchang: Fallen Feathers is considerably better among critics than PC players. The game currently holds a Top Critic Average of 75 on review aggregator site OpenCritic, which is far beyond the "Mostly Negative" experience that PC players are discussing. Critics have praised the Soulslike for its fresh spin on the genre, although it seems that many PC players are struggling to try out what the game has to offer because of the performance.
How to Claim Deluxe & Pre-Order Items in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers
Players who've bought Wuchang: Fallen Feathers before launch or the deluxe edition will receive exclusive in-game gear, here's how to claim it.
Over on Steam, Wuchang: Fallen Feathers has already been given the "Mostly Negative" tag on release day. There have been almost 6,000 reviews of the game on Steam, with just 20% of them being positive. That's right on the precipice of "Overwhelmingly Negative," which would be a disastrous start for one of the most exciting games in the 2025 video game release calendar. Looking at the reviews, the problem is clear: most are blaming Wuchang: Fallen Feathers' performance, which appears to be rough across the board. One review describes the game as "another unstable UE5 title," while another claims it's a "UE5 stutter fest L."
Wuchang: Fallen Feathers Players Aren't Happy With the Game's Performance
The reviews from fans broadly claim to be excited about the game, making the disappointment of its performance all the more prominent. Wuchang: Fallen Feathers has already drawn in over 100,000 concurrent players on Steam, so it is technically a hit on the platform. Still, it's a shame that the aforementioned performance problems undercut such excitement; players with powerful rigs are reporting low FPS far below what they'd expect, even from a modern title.
For those concerned about these early reports of performance issues, it's also worth noting that Wuchang: Fallen Feathers is available on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, too. This allows players to try the game without actually spending the fee. Hopefully, developer Leenzee is swiftly aware of the issues on PC and is able to resolve them as fast as possible.
