In Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, the game's opening region – Worship's Rise – is made up of several smaller subsections. The first two of these areas are called Reverent Temple and Buddha Cliffs, which act as a tutorial hub, and the first taste of exploration respectively. The third area is centered around Lightzen Temple, the first major location outside the opening area, and the subject of this guide.
All Worship's Rise Shrine Locations in Wuchang Fallen Feathers
There are 12 Shrines scattered across Worship’s Rise, the first area in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, and this guide will help players find them all.
Our coverage of Lightzen Temple will include, aside from the important locations within the temple grounds itself, the open areas surrounding the temple that Wuchang can explore. This will include Narrow Stretch, which is the path that leads from Lightzen Temple to the next major area, Shu Sanctum. All together, this guide will provide a c omplete walkthrough of Wuchang's Lightzen Temple, and a complete l ist of all collectibles and NPCs in the area.
Lightzen Temple Complete Walkthrough Part 1 – Wuchang: Fallen Feathers
How to Reach Lightzen Temple:
Lightzen Temple is the first major location you'll encounter once you leave the Reverent Temple and begin to explore. Before reaching the temple, you'll have to pass through the Buddha Cliffs area, which is where the game's second shrine is located. After making your way through the caves, you'll come to a cliff section where you can look out and see Shu Sanctum, and the village that surrounds it. Lightzen Temple is at the bottom of this hill.
After descending into the valley from the cliff top, you'll know you're about to reach Lightzen Temple when you see the above gate.
Entering Lightzen Temple:
After you cross through the gate into Lightzen Temple, you'll see an item marker on the ground. This contains Fire Pot x3. Make sure to pick up the Fire Pots, as they will be useful right away. Actually, as soon as you pick up the pots, a tutorial window will appear on the right side of the screen that explains Special Items. These are items that are used to overcome combat situations that would otherwise be far more difficult.
In this case, if you continue up the stairs and look to the right, you'll see a group of enemies sitting among several explosive pots. If you throw a Fire Pot while locked-on to one of the enemies, the resulting chain reaction will cause the entire group to be killed.
Collect Darkfrost Edge – One-Handed Sword:

After the small group of enemies has been dealt with, you'll see a yellow item marker on a table behind the remains of the enemies. Head over and collect this item, which is revealed to be Wuchang: Fallen Feather's first one-handed sword, Darkfrost Edge.
Lightzen Temple Building 1:
After destroying the group of enemies and collecting Darkfrost Edge, you'll notice there are three nearby buildings. The first building we'll call Building 1. The entrance to this building is found near the sitting enemies. After the explosion, a single spear-wielding enemy will emerge from this building. Deal with them, then enter the small shack.
Inside Building 1, you'll find a blue item marker sitting on a table. The contents are Steamed Bunny Bun x3.
Lightzen Temple Building 2:
Now, if you make a left at the top of the stairs that lead into the temple grounds, you'll see the entrances to Building 2. If you enter through the first entrance, which is on the left, you'll see a blue item marker inside on the ground. There are no enemies at this entrance, but be careful, as there are two small enemies hiding in the rafters of the other section of the building.
If you enter through Entrance 2, you'll see a yellow item marker on the ground, but you'll be ambushed by the two enemies in the rafters if you try to grab it. If you use a spell, or item like Flying Daggers, you can lure them down and take them out before collecting the items. The yellow item marker is the Monkey Pendant, which increases the power of throwables.
Items inside Building 2:
- Blue Item Marker: Red Mercury Shoot x1
- Yellow item Marker: Monkey Pendant
Locate the Lightzen Temple Shrine:
After clearing out the loot from the first group of buildings, you can then head to the Lightsen Temple Shrine. You can visit the shrine before looting if you are in need of refilling the Manna Vase.
After coming up the stairs that lead into the temple grounds, head straight past the group of sitting enemies, then cross the small courtyard. You'll find the Lightzen Temple Shrine sitting directly in front of the large temple building.
If you look at the stairs that lead up to the temple to the right of the shrine, you'll see a crow perched on one of the stone statues. If you kill the crow with a spell or throwing weapon, you'll receive Aurum Feather x1.
If you wish to head straight to the first major boss, continue up the stairs from the shrine, through the courtyard, and through the gate beyond the next structure. We'll cover this later, after completing the list of remaining loot.

Lightzen Temple Walkthrough Part 2 – Wuchang: Fallen Feathers
Should You Help Wu Gang?
To the left of the Lightzen Temple Shrine, you'll see a small NPC writhing on the ground in pain. If you interact with the NPC, a prompt will appear that gives you the option to 'Help him up' or 'Leave him be.' If you leave him be, he'll continue to roll on the ground. If you help him up, you'll begin Wu Gang's NPC questline. There is no reason not to help him up. Eventually, you'll be required to bring him items like Wuchang's Golden Bowl.
Lightzen Temple Building 3:
After helping Wu Gang, turn left to find the third building in the Lightzen Temple compound. Inside, you'll find a dangerous potted-type enemy. These are the enemies that spit green acid, and reward Wuchang with the following items when killed:
- Faint Red Feather
- Red Murcury Sprout x1
- Emerald Lotus Seed x1
- Plumed Branch x1
There is also a basic blue item marker that contains Fire Lotus Seeds x3.
Lightzen Temple Building 4:
If you turn around from the shine you'll see a path that leads down to a locked gate, and Building 4. Walk down the path, and you'll encounter two enemies standing outside Building 4. Defeat the enemies, then look for a Blue Item Marker on the ground near a table covered in broken jars. The item is a Dough Figurine of Mu Guiying.
As you enter Building 4, watch out for the enemy hiding to the left of the entrance. Inside, you'll find a Purple Item Marker that contains a Faint Red Feather. It's very dark inside the building, but the item marker is fairly easy to see.
If you head to the gate at the end of the path, you'll realize it's locked, and you'll need the Lightzen Key to open it. If you turn left at the gate, you'll find a Health Pill hidden among the various items.
Lightzen Temple Courtyard:
Now that you've collected everything in the outer temple grounds, return to the shrine and make your way up the stairs and through the concrete tunnel. You'll emerge into a large courtyard with a building on each side. You'll see a crouching enemy in the center of the courtyard, with a blue item marker on the ground. Be careful as you approach, as there will be another enemy to the right, and it will attack you from behind.
The item on the ground is a Red Mercury Shoot x1. Pick it up, then head to the building on the right with the glowing treasure chest. Inside the chest, you'll find Lost Remains, which will allow you to increase the Manna Vase's potency at the shrine. As you exit the building, an enemy will emerge from the darkness and attack.
Now, head into the building on the left. Be careful, as two enemies will quickly attack you as you enter. Once they are clear, head inside and grab the Lantern Fruit x1 sitting on the bed. Once that is collected, you're ready to move on.
Now, you'll want to head around to the back side of the large structure that is directly across from the tunnel that you used to enter the courtyard. Inside the small chamber, you'll find the Golden Bowl. Pick it up, and give it to Wu Gang when you next encounter him at Shu Sanctum.
Exit the small chamber, and proceed through the gate. Here, you'll face the first major boss of the game: Master Raider – Man-eating Dhutanga. Luckily, this foe is one of the easier bosses. He is incredibly susceptible to Charged Heavy Attacks with the Longsword. Make use of this tactic, and you'll defeat him in no time.
Defeating Dhutanga will unlock Wuchang's Tempering mechanic. It will also earn you the following items :
- Copper Jug (Turn in to merchant at Shu Sanctum)
- Lightzen Key
- Echo of Dhutanga (Spell)

Narrow Stretch Walkthrough – Wuchang:Fallen Feathers
Exit Lightzen Temple:
After defeating the boss, return to the gate that required the Lightzen Key. Make sure to kill the Aurum Feather crow perched above the gate. After exiting the gate, follow the path until it reaches a T, then turn right. As you follow the path, you'll see a small green and yellow creature popping up from the ground. If you kill it before it buries itself at the end of the path, you'll receive Bamboo Shoot x1, which you can use to trade with the Panda near the Shu Sanctum.
If you miss the bamboo creature, return to the shrine and enter the dream to get another chance.
There is nothing back the opposite way, so continue along the main path after killing the bamboo creature. When you reach the rock bridge, look down to the right, and you'll see an item on a large rock. Pick up the Budding Red Mercury x1, then cross the bridge and make your way up the hill.
At the top of the hill, you'll encounter an NPC resting against a tree. This is Nian Suichang. When prompted, ask him for News From Nearby. At the next prompt, Agree to Help. Nian will teach you the Well Met gesture, and give you the Bone Whistle, which will allow you to call him when you need help in battle. He will then move to Shu Sanctum, which is found further up the hill. This essentially marks the end of the short Narrow Stretch section, and the start of the area surrounding Shu Sanctum.
