While Season of Discovery Phase 3 brought a lot of new content to the game world, one of the most notable additions was the new epic items. Obtaining this equipment is quite a painstaking process as you must fulfill several requirements, including having a high skill level in various professions. However, WoW SoD players will also need a lot of new materials, one of which is Nightmare Seed. Without exaggeration, this is one of the most sought-after consumables this season, as it is used to create most new items. Fortunately, several ways will help you get what you want.

Where to Get Nightmare Seed in WoW SoD

WoW map

You can get Nightmare Seed in WoW SoD in two ways:

  • Random drop from monsters in the Temple of Atal'Hakkar dungeon.
  • Buy it at auction.

If you choose the first option, you should know that the Temple of Atal'Hakkar, also known as Sunken Temple, is a level 50-55 dungeon for groups of 5-10 players. This dungeon is a winding multi-story structure that will encounter you against many types of enemies, such as Nightmare Whelp, Nightmare Wyrmkin, Nightmare Wanderer, Dreamscythe, and more. Almost any monster you meet will be able to drop a Nightmare Seed after death, but the chance of success is relatively low, so be prepared for a lot of runs.

As for the location of the Temple of Atal'Hakkar, it is in the heart of the Swamp of Sorrows. You can find the entrance to this dungeon in the center of the lake, but the path will be slightly different for members of the two factions. Alliance members can start with Nethergarde Keep, and Horde can start with Stonard. However, regardless of this, the journey will not take too long, and you can quickly start farming valuable consumables.

This guide covers the effects and locations of all new Phase 3 Mage Runes in WoW: Season of Discovery, equippable on the Helm and Wrists slots.

If you don't want to spend hours in the dungeon and your wallet is overflowing with gold, visit the auction. The cost of one Nightmare Seed averages about 13-20 gold, depending on the region and server. That amount of money doesn't look too much, but this is only at first glance. Except for Sigil of Living Dreams and Flask of Nightmarish Mojo, which only require a small amount of this consumable to craft, all other epic gear requires 10 Nightmare Seed. You will have to spend at least 500 gold to buy one consumable. To create items, you need at least 2-3 other types of resources; thus, the cost of new equipment may be unreasonably high.

That's all you need to know about how to get Nightmare Seed in WoW SoD. Although clearing a dungeon seems like a time-consuming process, it is much cheaper, more fun, and will bring many more benefits and other rewards. So unless you have a ton of extra gold in your pocket, try not to look for this consumable at auction.
