For example, the highest tier of Harbinger Crest, the Gilded Harbinger Crest, will only improve gear with the Hero or Myth type, while a Weathered Harbinger Crest can only be used on Adventurer and Veteran gear. Four Tiers Of Harbinger Crests To Upgrade Gear

Harbinger Crests are used to upgrade your Gear to take on Season One at the Gear Upgrade vendor in Dornogal. There are four types of Harbinger Quest WoW TWW players can collect, each of which are tied to two different Gear tiers.

Explorer Gear can be upgraded to +8, and Adventurer Gear to +4, without using Crests. You only need Valorstones for these gear levels.

Weathered Harbinger Crest: Required for upgrading Adventurer Gear to +8, and Veteran Gear to +4
Carved Harbinger Crest: Required for upgrading Veteran Gear to +8, and Champion Gear to +4
Runed Harbinger Crest: Required for upgrading Champion Gear to +8 and Hero Gear to +4
Gilded Harbinger Crest: Required for upgrading Hero Gear to +6 and Myth Gear to +6

You need 15 of each Crest, in addition to Valorstones, to upgrade Gear to higher levels within its category.

Upon hitting Level 80, you will see a quest pop up in Dornogal that introduces the The War Within Gear Upgrade system. The two Gear Upgrade vendors are both Dracthyr NPCs and can be found in the central-east area of Dornogal in their shop.
