In WoW SoD players are encouraged to explore the world and find fresh content that has been added to the well-traveled classic version of the MMO. Every phase so far has had an air of mystery surrounding it, in part thanks to hidden quests that reward fun – or useful – new items, like the Phase 2 Sleeping Bag questline.
WoW SoD Phase 3: Best Dungeons To Grind Level 40 to 50
There are five dungeons that players can use to level from 40 to 50 in WoW Classic, though there are technically better ways to get XP in SoD.
A new hidden questline SoD players can embark on in Phase 3 takes place in Blackrock Depths, and rewards something that's a bit less useful than the Sleeping Bag, but infinitely more flashy: the
Rainbow Generator. An on-use Trinket, the Rainbow Generator is a fun Toy-like item that creates a rainbow between two players. But to get it, you'll have to complete a challenge most maligned by gamers: a jumping puzzle.
How To Get Rainbow Generator in WoW SoD
Step One: Enter BRD And Find The Bridge Over Lava in Shadowforge City
The first thing most players will need to do is get some Noggenfogger Elixirs (or a Priest with Slow Fall) and put together a group that is capable of getting through Blackrock Depths without dying. If players die while trying to get the Rainbow Generator trinket, the party will have to leave the instance and reset it for another attempt.
Enter BRD and open the locked gate. Continue forward, then open the second locked gate on the right. Go up the ramped hallway and open the locked door on the left wall. Go up the stairs and right and continue up into the Ring itself. Go to the other side of the Ring of Law, go into the hallway, then turn left.
You should see a bridge in the distance over lava. On the bridge you will see a small ledge below with a green name just barely poking out of a doorway – your goal is to jump down here safely and talk to the NPC.
It's a good idea to have a party member who can give Slow Fall or Noggenfogger Elixirs for the group to reduce fall damage.
Step Two: The Jumping Puzzle... Of Doom
The rest of the Rainbow Generator trinket quest in SoD mostly takes the form of a lengthy jumping puzzle. Just like in all previous steps, if anyone misses a jump and dies, you'll have to re-start from outside the dungeon. First, go to the far end of the bridge and go to the left side.
You should see a rooftop just around the corner that you can jump to. Consume your Noggenfogger Elixir or use your Slow Fall ability, then jump across.
WoW SoD: All Zul'Farrak Quests
Though most WoW SoD Zul'Farrak quests are open to both factions, there are a couple that are restricted to either the Horde or Alliance.
Be sure to back up a few times and align yourself for a perfect jump. It's not a hard jump to make, but if you jump a little bit too far to the right, you'll bump the rocks and lose your momentum.
If you have movement-enhancing abilities like Sprint or Cat Form, use them to make the jump a little bit easier.
After jumping to the other rooftop, continue forward almost all the way while hugging the right-side wall. Turn around and look down – you should see the ledge you saw earlier almost directly below.
If you aim well, you can jump down here without the use of Slow Fall, but it's safer to jump from the far side into the ledge, then consume the Noggenfogger Elixir right before you land so you don't overshoot the platform.
Step Three: Talk To The Rugged Traveller When He Appears
After making it to the bottom, congratulations – you've beat the hardest part of the Rainbow Generator quest, and all you have to do now is talk to an NPC. Walk inside the room after making the final jump to find an NPC named Rugged Traveller.
Having more than two people in the room with him at the same time can "scare" the Rugged Traveller and make him non-interactive. Some have found that it doesn't matter how many players are in the room, as long as everyone is willing to wait for around 2 minutes after entering the room as a group.
According to the April 5 WoW SoD patch notes, the Rugged Traveller will leave if more than two enter the room – to be sure that the quest gets completed, only send two of your party members down the final jump at a time to finish the Rainbow Generator SoD quest.
WoW Classic SoD: How To Get Embrace of the Lycan
To get the revamped Embrace of the Lycan head armor, WoW SoD players will need to head into a familiar and well-traveled dungeon: Zul'Farrak.
Rainbow Generator SoD Quest Rewards
In addition to the Rainbow Generator trinket, this SoD Phase 3 hidden quest rewards two more items: three Student Fodder consumables and Primo's Poise-Demanding Uniform. The Poise-Demanding Uniform is a cosmetic shirt, while Student Fodder can be used to gain 20% Rested XP instantly.
Save the Student Fodder for Phase 4 when the leveling journey from 50 to 60 becomes significantly longer – around level 58 or 59 ought to be a good time to use it, provided we don't get more Student Fodder in Phase 4.
Rainbow Generator Effects
The Rainbow Generator is not a Toy like it is in Retail WoW. Instead, it's a Trinket, and must be equipped to use its ability. If you've walked into a capital city and seen gigantic rainbows connecting players, this is the item that lets you do that – simply click on another player, activate the trinket, and watch as an enormous rainbow connects you both.
As a Channeled effect, it will end when you are interrupted, when combat begins, or when the channel finishes after about 30 seconds.
