Each new phase for World of Warcraft Classic: Season of Discovery brings new Runes for every class, including a variety of new Warlock Runes for SoD Phase 4. In addition to new P4 Warlock Runes for the Cloak slot, there are a variety of Warlock Ring Runes to choose from which grant a variety of skill bonuses, intended to level the playing field at max level.

Though there are lots of new Warlock Runes that complement those introduced in Phase 1 and Phase 2, and in Phase 3, some of these older Runes may have been removed and replaced, or changed entirely. This guide details what the new Warlock Cloak Runes and Warlock Ring Runes do in SoD P4, and explains what (if any) Runes were removed and replaced with new options.

Updated July 16, 2024 by Erik Petrovich: There are three new SoD P4 Warlock Cloak Runes, and several new Phase 4 Warlock Ring Runes, that players can collect in the latest phase for Season of Discovery. After a particularly productive weekend after the release of SoD Phase 4, Warlock Runes locations have all been discovered. This guide has been updated to include detailed instructions to find all new Warlock Runes Phase 4 introduced, including specific coordinates to help you hone in on the exact location of every new Warlock Rune SoD P4 players can get.

All New P4 Warlock Cloak Runes

Decimation

  • Decimation Effects

    • Soul Fire has no cooldown
    • Casting Shadow Bolt, Shadow Cleave, Incinerate, or Soul Fire against targets below 35% HP makes your next Soul Fire spell cast time reduced by 40% for 10 seconds
    • Soul Fire spells cast when under this effect do not cost a Soul Shard

How To Get Decimation Rune: The Phase 4 Decimation Rune location is yet another Warlock Rune that can only be acquired by using the Fel Rift system introduced in Phsae 3. Go to the Burning Steppes to get a Legion Portal Tuner from Fel Rifts, then go to the Blasted Lands and use it on a Fel Scar to transform it. These special Portals have a chance to yield a Portal Tuner Tuner item, which can be combined with the Legion Portal Tuner to create an Overcharged Portal Tuner. Use this on a Fel Scar in the Blasted Lands to get the Rune of Decimation.

Infernal Armor

  • Infernal Armor Effects

    • Reduces all Magic damage taken by a percentage equal to your Physical Damage Reduction derived stat from Armor
    • Effect lasts for 10 seconds

How To Get Infernal Armor Rune: The SoD Infernal Armor Rune location is in the Blasted Lands. Defeat any Shadowsown enemy to get a Shadowsworn Note item. Then, find the cave near (67, 31) and look for an altar at the very end of the cave. At this Altar, summon a Voidwalker, and Sacrifice it while holding a Greater Spellstone, and with Shadow Ward active. Interact with the Altar to summon an Elite enemy, which must be defeated to earn this Rune. As long as you can withstand the damage that the Altar deals on interact, the Elite enemy is not too bad to handle at Level 60.

In Phase 4, WoW SoD Warrior Runes expanded to include options for the Cloak and Ring Rune Slots, as well as changes to existing Warrior Runes.

Mark of Chaos

  • Mark of Chaos Effects

    • All Curses, except for Curse of Shadow and Curse of the Elements, now apply the Mark of Chaos debuff
      • Targets with this debuff have Magic resistances reduced by 75
      • While targets remain under the Mark of Chaos, all spell damage taken is increased by 11%

How To Get Mark of Chaos Rune: The SoD Mark of Chaos Rune location is in the Western Plaguelands. Look for the Skeletal Flayer enemy to the east of the Bulwark. Use Drain Soul on this enemy to get Plagued Soul Shards. Do this three times, then go to your faction's nearest hub (either The Bulwark or Chillwind Camp) and turn them into either Pixi Pilfershard (Alliance) or Prazik Pilfershard (Horde) to get the Rune of Mark of Chaos.

All Warlock Ring Runes follow the same unlock method – find specific books somewhere in the world, and you will unlock Ring Runes that your Skill for particular class weapons and spell specializations. At Max Level, against elite higher-than-60 mobs, having a +5 to your weapon or spell skills makes it significantly less likely that you will miss attacks and casts.

These new Runes give every class the ability to boost two of their Weapon Skills, Spell Specializations, or Defense Skills by a small, but not insignificant, amount. When it comes to new Warlock Ring Runes, WoW SoD players have six choices.

Rune of Fire Specialization

How To Get Fire Specialization Rune: To find the Fire Specialization Rune location, head to the Searing Gorge to the Slag Pit and look for Overseer Maltorius's room, above the Archeologist area of the Slag Pit, where the Red Book is found on a table. This SoD Ring Rune book is located around the coordinates (40.5, 35.5).

Rune of Shadow Specialization

How To Get Shadow Specialization Rune: To find the Shadow Specialization Rune location, head to the very northern branch of the Tainted Scar in the Blasted Lands to find this Red Book resting on an Altar. This Phase 4 Ring Rune book is located around the coordinates (32.5, 49).
