With the launch of WoW SoD Phase 4, Azuregos was one of two max-level World Bosses that received a minor overhaul. Alongside Lord Kazzak in the Blasted Lands, Azuregos is no longer found roaming Azshara, and instead must be engaged with a full Raid group in a new Instanced area of the zone.
Upper Blackrock Spire (UBRS) Attunement Guide – WoW Classic & SoD
To enter UBRS, WoW SoD players must go into LBRS and collect three Gemstones and a Seal to unlock Upper Blackrock Spire attunement.
Azuregos is relatively simple, and features no one-shot mechanics that can't be dispelled. But there are a few Azuregos strategies to keep in mind, and of course, Azuregos loot to earn for beating this boss. This guide to the Azuregos world boss in WoW SoD covers both strategies and loot for the legendary Blue Dragon, as well as how to find the Azuregod raid location in the first place.
WoW SoD Azuregos World Boss Location
To get to Azuregos, players and their Raid Group should head to Azshara, to the south-center of the zone. To get to this place, travel northeast on the road until your character's location is just above the mountain range that juts into the middle of the zone. Turn eastward, and be careful not to fall down the cliffs as you make your way southeast toward Azuregos location in WoW SoD.
- Alliance players can simply head to Talrendis Point in southwestern Azshara, then head northeast. Do not turn southeast to get to Azuregos too soon or you will run into a Horde encampment nestled in the mountains.
- Horde players should head to Splintertree Post in Ashenvale, then follow the road east to reach Azshara. Watch out for the Alliance NPCs at Talrendis Point, then continue northeast to reach the turning point and get to Azuregos.
When you arrive, you will see an instance portal in the area, which does not require an Attunement to unlock. The portal should appear to be nestled inside of a set of pillars, surrounded by crystals. Enter the portal, mount up, and search the area with your Raid to find and defeat Azuregos.
How To Beat Azuregos: WoW SoD Preparation & Strategies
In WoW SoD, Azuregos is a Raid-level boss with several abilities that can complicate the fight, but ultimately, you only really need to pay attention to a few of them. After ingesting a Frost Protection Potion to help mitigate damage, let your Tank establish Threat for a few seconds, then charge in and pay attention to the boss for these three mechanics.
- The Teleport ability will transport every player in the raid to Azuregos' location, and reset aggro. Once this happens, DPS and Healers must let the Tank establish aggro again before taking any actions. This isn't necessarily an instant-wipe if failed, but it can be annoying for the Tank to deal with.
- Casters and Mana-users should keep a keen eye out for the Manastorm AoE ability, which will drain your mana quickly. Don't waste your Mana on spells when Azuregos has Magic Reflection active, too.
- Melee players should be careful to stay behind the boss and slightly to the right or left, at Azuregos' flank, essentially. This prevents being hit by the boss' Frost Breath frontal cone and his Cleave attack.
Let your Tank maintain aggro, watch out for the mechanics that apply to your role, and it's a relatively simple boss fight. At the very least, Azuregos doesn't regain a chunk of HP if someone dies or become unbearably strong after three minutes, like Lord Kazzak.
WoW Classic & SoD: Onyxia's Lair Attunement Walkthrough (Alliance)
To get Onyxia attunement in WoW SoD, Alliance players need to undertake one of the longest – and most frustrating – quest chains in the game.
All WoW SoD Azuregos Rewards
In WoW SoD, Azuregos rewards number 11 in total, each having a chance to drop as part of the Azuregos loot table upon defeat. These items vary, but tend to favor caster and ranged classes with items such as the Mature Blue Dragon Sinew, which leads to an amazing Quiver, or the Mage's Cold Snap wand.
But melee players needn't fear – many class' BiS cloak, the Puissant Cape, drops from Azuregos, as well as a pretty great two-handed sword called Typhoon.

Depending on how many people are in your group, your chances to actually win any of these pieces of gear in your Raid change. If you take on Azuregos with just 20 players, you'll have way less competition when it comes to Azuregos loot, but the fight will be much more difficult. With two weekly resets for all World Bosses, it's not too much of a hassle to go again if you don't get the Azuregos gear you need while in a full 40-man group.
