Though Rogues can Tank now in World of Warcraft: Season of Discovery, they still shine in the DPS role, especially with good gear. For DPS Rogues, that means learning the equipping lots of Agility-focused Leather armor, a slow Sword in your main hand to improve Saber Slash's damage, and a fast Dagger in your offhand to proc Poisons.
WoW SoD: All Phase 1 & 2 Rogue Runes
Rogues get lots of great DPS runes in the Season of Discovery, as well as the ability to Tank, making them a great choice for PvP and PvE both.
Though Rogues are easily one of the best DPS classes in WoW SoD, they are very gear-reliant, and topping the charts in BFD might not happen unless you're wearing your BiS gear. This guide covers the best pre-BiS gear Rogues can get before endgame, as well as the true BiS setup for DPS Rogues, including BFD and other endgame activities.
Best Rogue DPS Gear (Phase One)
Pre-BIS For Rogue DPS
These pre-BIS items are the best Rogue DPS gear that players can get before heading into endgame content. In Phase One the Blackfathom Deeps raid is the primary piece of PvE endgame content, one that offers new, powerful BIS for every class. But you need to have some kind of gear to stand a competent chance at clearing it in the first place.
These items can be found in dungeons that can be completed by fresh Level 25 players, made via recipes for various Professions, collected from high-level mobs in the open world, or are rewards for completing Quests or reaching specific reputation ranks.
If you don't feel like farming an item that drops in the open world yourself, most can be bought (for a significant amount of Gold) from the Auction House.

WoW Season of Discovery: How To Get Just A Flesh Wound (Rogue Rune)
Just A Flesh Wound is a Rogue Rune in SoD that lets the class Tank for the first time in WoW history, but it's locked behind a rep gate.
BIS For Rogue DPS
While the previous table covered gear that Rogues can get before Level 25, or on a fresh 25, to get ready for endgame content, this table covers the real deal – the best gear that DPS Rogues can possibly get in Phase One. Some of these items can only be found in Blackfathom Deeps, some in post-max-level dungeons, and a few from farming reputations – all will take a long time to get, so be prepared to grind for a few weeks.
This gear is meant to pair with an Assassination and Combat build, with the vast majority of points put into the Assassination tree. Invest a couple points in Improved Sinister Strike, then put everything else into Malice, Ruthlessness, Murder, Improved Slice and Dice, and Relentless Strikes in the Assassination tree.
The best Runes to pair with this BIS Rogue DPS gear are Deadly Brew on the chest, Saber Slash on your gloves, and Envenom on the legs.
