WoW SoD: All Phase 3 Warlock Runes

The launch of Phase 3 for World of Warcraft Classic: Season of Discovery introduced a new level cap of 50, a variety of new world events like Incursions, and revamped content like the Sunken Temple 20-man Raid. As is standard for every Phase launch, every class has a set of new Runes to Discover – including a variety of new Phase 3 Warlock Runes SoD players can find.

In SoD Phase 3 Warlocks have access to six new Runes which can be equipped on the Bracer/Wrist and Head gear. This guide covers all of the new Warlock Runes SoD P3 introduces, including details on each Rune's effects and how to acquire them. Be sure to check our companion pieces for information on Warlock Runes in Phases One and Two, as these are not included below.

Updated April 11, 2024 by Erik Petrovich: Now that players have had time to delve into SoD Phase 3, and hunt down all six new Warlock Runes, every Warlock Rune in SoD P3 has finally been Discovered. To get all Phase 3 Warlock Runes, SoD players will have to travel to many different locations and complete a variety of tasks, but two P3 Rune quests are shared amongst all classes. By acquiring Wild Offerings through a new SoD P3 questline, and by raising your Reputation with the Emerald Wardens to Friendly, all classes can buy one new SoD P3 Rune – Warlocks included – for two per class. This guide has been updated to describe how to get all Warlock Runes SoD Phase 3 has for players to equip in their Head and Bracer slots – just remember to open the Discovery box and read the specific details of each new Warlock Rune location hidden below each entry.

Backdraft Rune

Backdraft Effect
- Conflagrate grants 30% Spellcasting Haste for 10 seconds

How To Get Backdraft Rune: To get this Rune, Mages, Paladins, Priests, and Warlocks must use Worldcore Fragments to channel energy into four Ley Crystals found in Feralas, the Hinterlands, Azshara, and the Searing Gorge. Fel Portal exploration can reward Worldcore Fragments, one of which is needed for each Ley Crystal you will channel.

The Azshara Ley Crystal is located just southwest of The Forlorn Ridge

The Feralas Ley Crystal is located in the center of The High Wilderness

The Hinterlands Ley Crystal is located just north of The Altar of Zul

The Searing Gorge Ley Crystal is located just offthe road that leads into Blackrock Mountain, in the southeast of the zone as the road turns a hard west.

Once you have successfully channeled all four Ley Crystals, defeat the Elite enemy Manaburn to get the Rune of Backdraft.

Pandemic Effect
- DoT damage from Corruption, Curse of Agony, Curse of Doom, Immolate, Siphon Life, and Unstable Affliction can now Critically Hit

How To Get Pandemic Rune: In Feralas, you need to look two items: a Grimtotem Necklace, looted from a chest near a dead Diseased Grimtotem Shaman to the west of Camp Mojache, and a Broken Woodpaw Staff, looted from a chest near a dead Diseased Woodbpaw Mystic on a ledge in the Woodpaw Den. Combine the items to make a Diseased Nature Staff. Find a Diseased Forest Walker to the south of Camp Mojache and use the Staff while targeting it to awaken it. Defeat the Forest Walker to get the Rune of Pandemic.

Vengeance Rune

Vengeance Effect
- When activated, gain a 30% boost to max HP for 20 seconds. When the effect ends, the extra HP is instantly lost.
- In Metamorphosis Form, Vengeance also grants a Slow Fall effect

How To Get Vengeance Rune: This Rune is awarded as part of the phase 3 quest "The Wild Gods." This quest rewards a Rune for every Class in WoW SoD – for more information on how to finish this lengthy questline, read our guide that explains how to complete "The Wild Gods".

Immolation Aura Rune

Immolation Aura Effect
- Burns enemies near the Warlock every 2 seconds while active
- Reduces all incoming Magic Damage by 10%
- Lasts until cancelled

How To Get Immolation Aura Rune: In the area outside the northeastern Ashenvale Nightmare Incursion area, kill Dreampyre Imps, Emberspawk Dreamsworn, and Dreamhunter Hounds to get Dreampyre Fang, Dreamsworn Horn, and Dreamhunter Fang. Combine all three items to get the Rune of Immolation Aura.

Summon Felguard Rune

Summon Felguard Effect
- Summons a Felguard Demon to the side of the Warlock, which benefits from every Talent that modifies any Demon, cumulatively

How To Get Summon Felguard Rune: This Rune is rewarded from Fel Portal exploration, a system in SoD P3 that unlocks Runes for Mages, Paladins, Priests, and Warlocks. Use Drain Soul on any mob to have a chance to get the Explorer's Soul buff. While this buff is active, you can summon an Explorer Imp, who can then be sent into various Fel Portals throughout Azeroth to retrieve items. You can have an Explorer Imp and your normal Demon at the same time. Locate Fel Portals in Feralas, Azshara, and the Blasted Lands and send your imp inside for a chance to get Otherworldly Treasure. The Rune of the Felguard may be contained in one of these Otherworldly Treasures, but be prepared to farm quite a few. This quest can be made significantly easier with a large group of Warlocks.

Unstable Affliction Effect
- Deals Shadow damage over 15 seconds
- If dispelled, causes a chunk of Shadow damage to the Dispeller and silences them for 5 seconds
- Exclusive with Immolate (both cannot be applied to the same enemy by the same Warlock)

How To Get Unstable Affliction Rune: Unlocked after reaching Friendly with the Emerald Wardens faction. Increase your reputation with this faction by completing quests in Nightmare Incursions, a new Phase 3 PvE event that takes place in Duskwood, Ashenvale, Feralas, and the Hinterlands. Once you reach Friendly, go to an Emerald Wardens Quartermaster to purchase the Rune of Affliction for 1g44s.
