There are a lot of surprises in WoW Season of Discovery, and thanks to all the new content and revamps to existing vanilla WoW, items that once went completely unnoticed have become highly sought-after. Part of this is the level-gated Phases, which raised the prices for Level 25 gear in Phase One, and Level 40 gear in Phase Two.
WoW Season of Discovery: What Are Waylaid Supplies?
Waylaid Supplies are a new WoW SoD unique item that grants reputation and a small chunk of rewards, which scale when filled with specific items.
But another major part of the increase in prices for items in SoD is Waylaid Supplies, which require specific items in exchange for gold and rep. This guide explains how to get
Turtle Scale Bracers in SoD, and why exactly they have become a hot item in Phase Two.
What Are Turtle Scale Bracers Used For in SoD?
Turtle Scale Bracers are a piece of gear made with Leatherworking, but as far as endgame SoD Raiding gear goes, it's not that impressive. It doesn't offer any stats for damage-dealers or tanks, sells for just 40 silver to a vendor, and requires some relatively limited and sometimes pricey materials to craft. So why does everyone want Turtle Scale bracers?
A few weeks after Phase Two released in early February 2024, a huge update rolled out for Waylaid Supplies. Compared to the launch of SoD, Waylaid Supplies now gave much, much more Gold as a reward, with the highest-ranking ones going for 12 Gold total.
WoW Season of Discovery: How To Get Cozy Sleeping Bag
The Cozy Sleeping Bag is a new XP-boosting item that players can use as many times as they like, available in WoW Season of Discovery's Phase Two.
Turtle Scale Bracers are in such demand because they are one of the few items that can be listed for the highest tier of Waylaid Supplies in Phase Two. Because players now get a lot of Gold for turning in completed Waylaid Supplies, the once nearly-useless Turtle Scale Bracers have skyrocketed in price.
How To Get Turtle Scale Bracers
- 8x Thick Leather
- 12x Turtle Scale
- 1x Heavy Silken Thread
Arguably the easiest way to get Turtle Scale Bracers is to just buy them off of the AH, but because they are in such high demand, it ends up being significantly cheaper to gather materials (or buy materials) and craft them. Either buy the materials listed above on the AH, or head out and farm them from the locations listed below. Then craft them yourself or find a Leatherworker that has at least 210 LW skill (and don't forget to Tip)
- Thick Leather is the highest Phase Two level of Leather available to Leatherworkers in Phase Two. You will need to be a Skinner to harvest this from bestial mobs, most of which can be found around Stranglethorn, Desolace, Swamp of Sorrows, and Dustwallow Marsh.
- Turtle Scale, as the name suggests, comes from Turtle enemies out in the world. Head to Dustwalow Marsh and look for Mudrock Turtles. These enemies have a small chance to drop Turtle Scale in their normal loot. If you are a Skinner, Turtle Scales have a second chance to drop when skinning these enemies.
- Heavy Silken Thread can be purchased from the Leatherworking trade supply vendor for 16s each.
The Waylaid Supplies box requires two Turtle Scale Bracers to complete. So, to finish the box, you will need 16x Thick Leather, 24x Turtle Scale, and 2x Heavy Silken Thread.
