There are a lot of changes to WoW Classic in the Season of Discovery, and with the launch of Phase Two, a whole bunch of new content just went live. Aside from new Runes, Raids, weapons, and gear, though, Phase Two also introduces a new item – the Cozy Sleeping Bag, which can boost your XP gain by a small amount.
WoW SoD: All Phase 1 & 2 Warlock Runes
Though players are most excited about Metamorphosis, Warlock runes in WoW SoD are going to be powerful across the board.
Any boost to XP gained will be worth more the earlier you get a Cozy Sleeping Bag in SoD, though some zones the questline will take you through can be tricky at low level s. The questline is well worth picking up as soon as you can not just because of what the Cozy Sleeping Bag does, but also because of the other rewards you can get along the way.
Cozy Sleeping Bag: Effects & Quest Rewards
The Cozy Sleeping Bag SoD item is a permanent reusable item, not a consumable, with a nearly 3-hour-long cooldown. When used, your character will summon a Sleeping Bag in the in-game world at their feet. When you summon it, or when you walk onto a Sleeping Bag, your character will automatically fall asleep after a second or two – complete with comically large Z's.
But don't be too hasty to get back up – if you stay in the Sleeping Bag for one minute, you'll get the Well-Rested buff, which increases your XP gained by 1%. This effect can stack up to three times for a total of 3% extra XP gained by resting for three minutes. The buff lasts for two hours, and starts counting down when you walk away from the Cozy Sleeping Bag.
WoW SoD: All Phase 1 & 2 Rogue Runes
Rogues get lots of great DPS runes in the Season of Discovery, as well as the ability to Tank, making them a great choice for PvP and PvE both.
It's not a huge XP boost, but something is always better than nothing. Plus, if members of your party or raid don't have their own Cozy Sleeping Bag, they can still get this buff from any other party member's Sleeping Bag by just walking onto it.
Other Quest Rewards
The questline for the Cozy Sleeping Bag has lots of other rewards, too, though unfortunately none of the new SoD Runes. First, each of these series of quests rewards a flat XP amount, which can be an enormous boost the earlier you start. Each step of the quest chain offers material rewards, too – like various decent Potions, materials, weapons, a 12-slot bag, great ammo for characters getting started with Phase Two, and something called Student Fodder.
Student Fodder is a new item that is consumed on use, and over the course of this questline, you will get eight Student Fodder to use in your journey to level cap. Student Fodder gives you about a 20% filled Rested XP bar, increasing the amount of XP you get from killing mobs by 100%.
The later you use Student Fodder, the more useful it will be, as leveling up in the late 30's can take a much longer time than earlier levels, but the percentage of Rested XP you get remains the same. Wait to use these until leveling starts to feel like a chore.
WoW SoD: All Phase 1 & 2 Shaman Runes
There's plenty for Shamans to love in the first two phases of the Season of Discovery, including a Two Handed Shaman Rune.
How To Get The Cozy Sleeping Bag – Step By Step
Step One: Alliance and Horde Start Locations
The Alliance and Horde start the Cozy Sleeping Bag quest in different locations, but ultimately converge into the same questline after the first initial steps.
- For Alliance players, head to Westfall to the Alexton Farmstead and look for Charred Remains at its north-western corner, at the coordinates (37.3, 50.7).
- For Horde players, travel to the Barrens then head south of Camp Taurajo and interact with the Charred Remains at (46.4, 73.9).
Both Horde and Alliance need to complete the other factions' starting quest.
Step Two: Head to a New Camp Deep in Stonetalon Mountains...
After this initial step, both factions visit the same locations from here on out – for better or worse.
- In the Alliance's cast, this next step is the most dangerous part, as you'll have to head into Stonetalon Mountains. Though the zone itself isn't particularly challenging, there are Horde guards on the border of the northwest Barrens – hug the mountainside to avoid them (hopefully), or take the road in from Ashenvale instead.
- Horde players can waltz into Stonetalon without worrying too much, unless you're on a PvP server of course.
Either way, walk north on the main road in Stonetalon until you are just barely above the Sun Rock Retreat name on your world map, at coordinates (51.6, 52.0). Look southwest to see a new trail that leads into the mountains, just barely out of view. Follow this trail for a few minutes until you reach another camp, and another note.
WoW SoD: All Phase 1 & 2 Hunter Runes
A primarily ranged DPS class, Hunters get some of the most powerful runes in the Season of Discovery – melee Survival could be viable, now.
After reading the note at the camp at the end of the trail, face northwest, and walk to the ledge of the cliffs. Look on the mountainside for a small mound of dirt – carefully scale the cliffside to reach this mound of dirt, and interact with it, to get the last note of the Cozy Sleeping Bag quest.
Step Three: Then Jump Off the Stonewrought Dam in Loch Modan
This third step is the most difficult for Horde players as it requires not only going into enemy territory (not contested), it also requires them to go to one of the most-guarded areas of the zone.
- Alliance players should simply head to Loch Modan and to the center of the Stonewrought Dam at coordinates (49.1, 13.7). Look over the ledge for a new platform featuring a telescope and a makeshift encampment. Jump over the ledge of the Dam and interact with the note here to continue the quest.
- Horde players should find their way to Loch Modan however they can and be prepared to run away from aggressive Alliance NPCs. Once you cross the border through the Algaz gate from the Wetlands, immediately head east towards the Dam. There are a number of guards and other players here, so be prepared to corpse run it if you don't have the means to easily evade them. Make your way to the center of the Dam, then jump off the northern side onto the new ledge at (49.1, 13.7). Interact with the note here to continue.
There isn't an easy way to get off the side of the Stonewrought Dam without dying. It is possible to jump into the middle of the dam's side and slide into the water unharmed, but it's pretty precise. Take the risk, or use a Hearthstone to get to the next step.
WoW SoD: All Phase 1 & 2 Paladin Runes
Paladins might become the most popular class in the Season of Discovery thanks to a multitude of useful Tank, Healing, and DPS runes alike.
Step Three: Find a Gap and a Jumping Puzzle in Thoradin's Wall
The last step of this quest chain isn't particularly bad for either Horde or Alliance players to get to – unless, of course, you are bad at platforming. Thoradin's Wall borders the Arathi Highlands and Hillsbrad Foothills, and just north of the path that leads through the Wall is this new jumping puzzle.
Head to either Hillsbrad or Arathi and make your way to the middle of Thoradin's wall. Then, head north until you see a large gap in the wall and a cart on its side. Jump onto the middle of the cart, then walk up its tilted side to reach the top of the wall. Turn south, and prepare to jump on various objects and wall features to make your way to the end of the rampart.
You should start to see a lot of people in Sleeping Bags, and indeed, this is where you get yours. Head into the tower, look to your right, and interact with the bag here to discover that all the notes have run out – oh well, there's a nice Cozy Sleeping Bag here at least! Pick up your Cozy Sleeping Bag just below the quest turn-in, and don't forget to use it as often as you can!
