Embrace of the Lycan is a Leather Head armor that is a piece of pre-BiS Phase 3 gear for several classes – and is the outright best-in-slot for some. In vanilla WoW Embrace of the Lycan was available, but its stats were updated for WoW SoD.

In vanilla, the set granted STR, STAM, and Spirit. In WoW SoD, Embrace of the Lycan replaces the Spirit stat with Agility, and adds a few points to its Strength and Stamina bonuses. It still grants +32 AP as in vanilla, and still requires level 45 to be equipped.

How To Get Embrace of the Lycan

The Embrace of the Lycan location is inside Zul'Farrak as a possible drop from the dungeon's final boss Chief Ukorz Sandscalp. You can't simply skip to the end and farm this boss for the Embrace of the Lycan drop, though.

Though most WoW SoD Zul'Farrak quests are open to both factions, there are a couple that are restricted to either the Horde or Alliance.

You must finish the Pyramid segment of Zul'Farrak, in which players ascend the Pyramid and defeat waves of Trolls on their way back down. Then, you must defeat Sergeant Bly and co. When they betray the party after reaching the bottom.

The door to Chief Ukorz Sandscalp and the end of the dungeon only opens once the goblin in Sergeant Bly's group blows up the entrance. When the way is opened, head up the central slope and take on the Chief. The Embrace of the Lycan drop chance is around 10%, so you may need to complete several full runs of the dungeon to get it.

If you finish the Wild Gods questline in SoD Phase 3, Zul'Farrak (specifically Gahz'Rilla) is one of the three boss options for farming Wild Offerings. Get your Wild Gods Rune from the quest, then head to Zul'Farrak to farm Embrace of the Lycan and Wild Offerings both.
