Joyous Journeys is a 50% experience boost that World of Warcraft periodically brings back to the game ahead of major releases. It first appeared in 2022 in the months leading up to Wrath of the Lich King Classic, but it has been re-enabled multiple times during the expansion and in Cataclysm Classic after.

How World of Warcraft Classic Can Fix Warlords of Draenor

Warlords of Draenor had the potential to be one of World of Warcraft's greatest expansions, but Classic can change that.

Now, this experience buff is returning to Cataclysm Classic one last time. From now until the Mists of Pandaria Pre-Patch on July 1, fans can benefit from this 50% increase to all experience gains in World of Warcraft Classic’s progression servers. This boost kicks in immediately at level 1 upon spawning into one's World of Warcraft starting zone and lasts all the way to the current level cap of 85, making it a great way to prepare a new character for the next expansion. This experience buff is only available in World of Warcraft: Cataclysm Classic, and is not present in Classic Era, Classic Fresh, Season of Discovery, or modern WoW.

50% Experience Boost in Classic WoW Until Mists of Pandaria Pre-Patch

  • Mists of Pandaria Pre-Patch begins July 1

The Joyous Journeys buff is enabled automatically, meaning players don’t need to do anything special to benefit from it. Fans who don’t want to use this buff can disable it at any innkeeper located in capital cities, after which they can turn it back on from the same NPCs at any time.

The Pre-Patch for World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria Classic may spell the end of Joyous Journeys for now, but it will add tons of other content instead. The Pandaren race, Monk class, and revamped talent trees are joined by new game features like Pet Battles, AoE looting, and more. Additionally, fans can enjoy the limited-time Attack on Theramore Isle world event, and take part in the Theramore’s Fall scenario. What’s more, players who complete the Pandaren starting experience in Mists of Pandaria Classic before the end of July can earn the Shaohao’s Sage Serpent mount for modern WoW.

Fans who would prefer to skip the leveling process can alternatively earn a free Level 85 Character Boost through Season of Discovery. By defeating Balnazzar, the first boss of WoW Classic Season of Discovery’s Scarlet Enclave raid, at least once before June 30, players can score this $60 game service at no cost.
