The World of Warcraft: Cataclysm expansion added several new recipes, formulas, patterns, and schematics for players to enjoy. These new toys and concoctions often have to be assembled or crafted, and there are a few important reagents that can be used by several different professions.

The Albino Cavefish is one of these multi-use reagents. Players acquire them by Fishing, and Alchemists can use them as an ingredient in some complex, high-level recipes. One of these is the coveted Flask of the Sands, which opens to give the player an epic flying mount, the Sandstone Dragon.

The Albino Cavefish Location

An Elusive Underground Dweller

  • Look in the far reaches of Deepholm

As the name suggests, the Albino Cavefish is only found in obscure locations underground. The new level 80 zone of Deepholm has a few locations where intrepid adventurers can find schools of the elusive fish as long as they can brave the giant mushroom monsters, angry troggs, and killer red mist.

There are several accessories players can use to improve their Fishing skill, including lures, special gear, and several kinds of fishing poles. It's strongly recommended to visit the Fishing trainer as early as possible to get the Illustrious Grand Master training level to grind up this very handy secondary skill.

Fishing Locations

Other fish that players can find in these regions include Lavascale Catfish and Blackbelly Mudfish, but from open water as opposed to schools.

  • Needlerock Chasm: Directly west of the centrally-located Temple of Earth, a few scant pools yield Albino Cavefish schools.
  • The Quaking Fields: These few small bodies of water are in the southern part of the zone, in the eastern corner of the fields.
  • Deathwing's Fall: Mostly lava as opposed to water, Deathwing left a few pools of water and they contain Albino Cavefish.
  • Silvermarsh: Here's where most schools are concentrated around the smallest area, but the twist is that it's part of a cave system located underground.
  • Crimson Expanse: Most of the open water in Deepholm is here, which means a wealth of Albino Cavefish schools, but the area is filled with aggressive troggs and other perils.

Herbalists and Miners also have plenty of resources scattered throughout the region, so make sure that the Find Resources button is up and running. Troggs are humanoid and often drop Embersilk which is used by Tailors and the First Aid profession.

World of Warcraft: Cataclysm Classic - How To Farm Guardians Of Hyjal Reputation (And Why It's Important)

If you need help farming Guardians of Hyjal Reputation in World of Warcraft Cataclysm Classic, this guide can give you some useful tips.

The Essential Ingredient

Making Deepstone Oil

  • A common recipe for Alchemists of the Illustrious Grand Master skill level

An alchemist needs a skill level of at least 470 to learn the Deepstone Oil recipe from a trainer. Unlike most other Alchemy recipes, it only has one ingredient, the fish, and no vial or other container is required.

Like other high-level concoctions, Deepstone Oil has more than one use. It's in high demand for one particular Alchemy recipe, and although the reagents are soulbound, the resulting product is not.

  • Mysterious Potion: Only Deepstone Oil and Crystal Vials are required to make this unreliable but useful potion. It restores up to 15000 health and 15000 mana, so it can be a lifesaver if the healer is occupied, but you don't know how much until you actually drink it.
  • The Vial Of The Sands: An Alchemist's skill is required to make this rare potion, but anyone can use it provided they have the riding skills. It opens to release the Sandstone Dragon, the only flying mount that can carry a friend, which is one of the reasons it's so popular.
