However, one of the other major features of Patch 11.1.5 will provide a brand-new avenue for fans seeking to level alts, all while experiencing stories in an excitingly fresh way. Lorewalking is a renewed questing experience coming in the update, in which players of levels 10 and above can play through curated stories pertaining to important characters, cultures, or events that combine existing quests and scenarios with brand-new ones, complete with cinematics, dialogue, and exciting rewards. While Lorewalking, fans will be unable to undertake other quests, but they can freely exit the campaign and return to Lorewalker Cho in Orgrimmar, Stormwind, or Dornogal at any point, letting them engage with the rest of the game again.

Lorewalking Scenarios in World of Warcraft Patch 11.1.5

  • Xal'atath
  • Ethereals
  • The Lich King

Three stories will be available at launch: Xal’atath, Ethereals, and the Lich King. In the first, players will experience major events pertaining to the mysterious antagonist of The War Within, including the Priest Artifact quest from World of Warcraft: Legion, her bargain with N’Zoth in Battle for Azeroth, and even new scenes of her imprisonment during the time of the Black Empire. The Ethereal questline revisits the cultures' major appearances from The Burning Crusade, and also explores their shared history with the Brokers from Shadowlands, including a special visit from Ve’nari. Lastly, the Lich King scenario has fans experience the rise and fall of Arthas Menethil, including the Culling of Stratholme, the claiming of Frostmourne, and even the final battle in Icecrown Citadel from Wrath of the Lich King, in which players take the role of the iconic boss himself.

Now that Lorewalking is available to test on the Public Test Realm, fans have already datamined a fourth scenario pertaining to the story of the Blood Elves and the Sunwell. Given World of Warcraft: Midnight is returning to Quel’thalas, players shouldn’t be surprised if this story appears in a future update ahead of the next expansion.

Patch 11.1.7 doesn’t have a launch date yet, but the PTR calendar suggests it may arrive on June 17, which would align with World of Warcraft's recent eight-week release cadence. Fans likely won’t have to wait too long to get official confirmation from Blizzard on the release date.
