World of Warcraft is giving away the extremely rare Picnic Basket toy as a Twitch drop to celebrate the release of Dragonflight Patch 10.1.5. This limited edition collectible is the latest in the line of freebies originally acquired from the discontinued World of Warcraft Trading Card Game.
Patch 10.1.5, Fractures in Time, is nearly live. At press time, servers are down for maintenance, but the contents of the new World of Warcraft update will be rolled out globally over the course of the next day, with the US servers coming up shortly.
To build hype over the exciting new content update, World of Warcraft is giving away another rare collectible item from the WoW TCG as a Twitch Drop. The Picnic Basket is a toy that lets players place an umbrella and grill every few minutes to take a beachside vacation, no matter where they find themselves. In order to collect this reward, players must watch any Twitch streamer in the World of Warcraft category for four hours after connecting to their Battle.net account. The Twitch Drop campaign is live now, and runs for a week through July 18 at 9:59 a.m. PDT.
The Picnic Basket toy was originally available through a code on the Rest and Relaxation card from the Through the Dark Portal expansion from 2007. As the second set in the World of Warcraft card game’s history, the Picnic Basket is one of the oldest TCG loot drops in existence. However, the Picnic Basket toy is one of the less-coveted TCG-exclusive items, with the Rest and Relaxation card usually retailing for around $20–a small sum compared to the hundreds or even thousands of dollars some mounts from the World of Warcraft card game sell for.
Either way, World of Warcraft fans are always excited to get the chance to add new toys to their collections. With its ability to make cosmetic Grilled Picnic Treats, the Picnic Basket in particular is a charming toy with great potential for role players and community events. Considering it is free and easy to collect, there’s no reason for fans not to grab this item, even if they aren’t playing World of Warcraft right now.
Fractures in Time itself promises tons of new content for World of Warcraft players. The patch adds a megadungeon, several quality of life updates, and an expansion to the Warlock class among other things. Fans should have a lot to keep themselves busy over the next few months until Dragonflight Patch 10.2 releases.
World of Warcraft is available now for PC.
