World of Warcraft features many diverse options for completionists and fans of collecting cosmetic items, including collecting mounts, pets, and transmogrification gear. Mount collecting remains a popular pastime despite the introduction of Dragonriding mounts, which are required for flight in World of Warcraft's Dragonflight expansion continent, Dragon Isles. A mindbogglingly vast collection of ground and flying mounts have been added to the game over the course of the last eighteen years. It's safe to say that interest in mount collecting has not waned as Blizzard continues to deliver exotic and stylish new additions for players to obtain, including the new Big Slick in the City ground mount.

With the release of Patch 10.1, Embers of Neltharion, World of Warcraft players were treated to a selection of new mounts to add to their collections. Among these mounts is the Winding Slitherdrake, a new Dragonriding mount, as well as several standard ground and flying mounts that have piqued players' interest. One mount that stands out is Big Slick in the City, a brightly colored, saddle-clad rock snail.

While the shockingly pink Big Slick is the only rock snail mount currently available, two Vicious War Snails will be obtainable via Dragonflight's Season 2 Rated PvP. Additionally, datamining has revealed that there may be more colored snails added to the game in the future. For now, Big Slick in the City is the top snail in town, as he should be, so we've put together this detailed guide to how players can get their hands on him. Careful, though; we’re unsure if rock snails are sticky.

How to Get the Big Slick in the City Snail Mount in WoW: Dragonflight

WoW Big Slick in the City Mount

Unlocking the Big Slick in the City mount in World of Warcraft becomes a relatively easy task once the player has unlocked to the Glimmerogg Racer faction, though getting there does require a bit of Renown grinding. However, the path to reaching maximum reputation level with the faction and earning the Big Slick in the City mount is heavily time-gated. The player can complete just one daily quest every day to earn reputation with the faction. Additional reputation can be gained through a series of one-time quests offering the player the opportunity to show off their skills in training snail battle pets. To get started with Glimmerogg Racer faction and earn Big Slick in the City mount, here's what players will need to do:

Step 1: Unlock Zaralek Cavern and meet the Loamm Niffen

To start working toward their very own Big Slick in the City mount, the player must first unlock Zaralek Cavern by finishing the Breaking Ground campaign quest series. To begin this new chapter of Dragonflight's story, the player must have completed the previous campaign quest series, Forbidden Reach. Once up to speed, players can start "The Land Beneath" by selecting the big Start Quest Now button on the What’s New menu, accessible upon login or from the game’s Esc game menu, or by accepting the quest from the main campaign quest tracker.

Step 2: Increase Renown with the Loamm Niffen to unlock the Glimmerogg Racer faction

Elder Honeypelt in World of Warcraft

In the initial stages of the Breaking Ground campaign quest series, players will venture into the newly introduced Zaralak Cavern zone, an extensive cave system located beneath the Dragon Isles. In this zone, players encounter a peculiar group of molefolk known as the Loamm Niffen. After meeting their leader, Elder Honeypelt, and completing her quest series ending with the quest “Smells Like Loamm,” the player is awarded 2,500 reputation points with the faction, automatically boosting your standing to Renown 2 and unlocking the first set of rewards.

To unlock the Glimmerogg Racer faction in World of Warcraft, players must reach Renown 7 with the Loamm Niffen. There are four specific methods to increase Renown with this faction which, as expected, all involving participating in content within the Zaralek Cavern zone:

  • Complete Loamm Niffen story quests
  • Complete Loamm Niffen world quests
  • Complete Loamm Niffen daily and weekly quests
  • Complete Zaralak Cavern bonus objectives

Upon reaching Renown 7 with the Loamm Niffen, a new quest will become available introducing players to a faction of cavern Drogbar who are extremely enthusiastic about the curious hobby of snail racing. To get started with the Glimmerogg Racer faction, fly down to the southern town of Glimmerogg and speak with Briggul, located at coordinates (44.2, 80.0). There, players can pick up the quest "Come Snail Away," and be introduced to Big Slick. Briggul will hand over the Conch Whistle quest item and the player's snail racing training begins!

Step 3: Complete quests and max reputation with the Glimmerogg Racer faction

Briggul in World of Warcraft

Each day, Briggul will offer a daily quest that will award 100 reputation with the Glimmerogg Racer faction once completed. These quests have the player use the Conch Whistle to summon Big Slick and demonstrate their snail wrangling skills in Zaralak Caverns and other Dragon Isles locations.

Briggul will also offer one-time completion "Snailspiration" quests, asking the player to show him a variety of different level 25 snail battle pets to further demonstrate their proficiency in snail training. There are fifteen of these quests in total, and each rewards 100 reputation with the Glimmerogg Racer faction. A list of the fifteen qualifying pets is available below, and information on how and where to find these pets by can be found in the in-game pet journal. It's important to remember that the pet must be level 25 in order to count for a quest.

To reach the illustrious Professional rank with the Glimmerogg Racer faction, the player must earn a total of 2800 reputation. However, besides the daily quest and showing off snail pets, there are no other ways to earn reputation with this faction, severely limiting potential daily reputation gains.

Completing Briggul's daily quest will award just 100 reputation per day, and showing him all the snail battle pets rewards an additional 1500 reputation. Therefore, if the player skips showing Briggul any snail battle pets and just complete his daily quest, it will take 28 days to reach maximum reputation with the Glimmerogg Racer faction.

Once the player reaches maximum reputation with the Glimmerogg Racer faction, Briggul will offer his final quest, "Snailed It." Simply speak with him again and, in celebration of the player's amazing performance in the world of snail racing, Briggul will hand over the Big Slick in the City mount.
