On July 23, World of Warcraft released its Pre-Expansion Update for The War Within. This exciting patch added a bunch of content from the upcoming expansion pack, including class changes, new quality-of-life improvements, and the expansive Warbands system. A week later, it kicked off the Radiant Echoes Pre-Patch event, which has players battle memories of iconic World of Warcraft bosses in order to buy special mounts, pets, and transmogs.
WoW - The War Within: Radiant Echoes Event Guide
The new pre-patch event, Radiant Echoes, offers players exciting new cosmetics and gear in preparation for WoW's upcoming expansion, The War Within.
Now, World of Warcraft is holding a special event that will let fans enjoy the new patch even if they aren’t an active player. From now until the morning of August 5, fans who previously had an active subscription to World of Warcraft can log into the game and play anything in the game right now, including content from the WoW: The War Within Pre-Patch, even if they don’t own Dragonflight. Until the cutoff period, players can enjoy everything in modern World of Warcraft with no other limitations, though WoW Classic is not included in this event.
World of Warcraft Welcome Back Weekend 2024
- From now through August 5 at 10 AM PDT.
- Available for players who have previously had an active subscription, but no longer do.
- Play anything in modern World of Warcraft up through Dragonflight, even if the expansion is not owned.
- Not available for WoW Classic.
There are a lot of things worth checking out in World of Warcraft right now. Players might complete the prologue questline for The War Within, check out the account-wide achievements, reputations, and Warband Bank in the Warbands feature, or catch up on some Dragonflight Season 4 activities. They can also participate in the Radiant Echoes event, which World of Warcraft is massively buffing just in time for the Welcome Back Weekend. WoW Remix: Mists of Pandaria is also still active until August 19, so fans can experience the throwback event and earn some more exclusive cosmetics while they still can.
Unfortunately, the Welcome Back Weekend ends well before The War Within launches, so players who want to keep playing after the event will have to purchase a World of Warcraft subscription to do so. That said, the unlimited free trial for World of Warcraft lets fans enjoy the game up to level 20, so there are still limited options for those not ready to buy more game time just yet.
