Summary

  • A new hotfix for World of Warcraft adds an adorable upgrade to the popular mount, Taivan the bakar.
  • Taivan now awoos when summoned.
  • Blizzard fixed several frustrating bugs in the latest hotfix update as well.

Blizzard has rolled out another round of hotfixes for World of Warcraft. The latest patch, which arrived on May 10, 2024, fixes some bugs associated with quests, a vendor, a dungeon, and one Warlock power, but its most adorable addition is related to one of World of Warcraft' s most beloved mounts, Taivan.

Taivan is an enormous doglike being known as a bakar, found in Maruukai in the Ohn’ahran Plains. While he's originally introduced as an untrainable nuisance, a patch from March 2024 turned Taivan into a rideable mount to the delight of many players who wanted more interaction with him after getting to ride him through several quests in his original quest line. Unlocking him as a permanent mount is no small task, however, as the item that summons him is a reward for completing the lengthy and arduous A World Awoken cumulative achievement, which players can only unlock by completing 130 other individual achievements.

The latest hotfix, which arrived on May 10, 2024, only includes one change for mounts and reads, "Taivan awoos when summoned, like a good boy." This upgrade to the big canine companion fits neatly with the lore that World of Warcraft has crafted around Taivan, as the unique achievement reward item that summons him is called Good Boy's Leash. Blizzard Entertainment has already catered to players demanding more of the massive bakar by reversing a controversial change to Taivan that made him appear much smaller than his original form when he was summoned, showing the developer's dedication to him.

Among the other fixes to World of Warcraf t, bugs have been worked out in two quests in the Valley of the Four Winds region in Pandaria — Lotus Tea and Get My Results! — that had been preventing players from completing them. Another quest-related bug that was preventing players in the At The Source quest on Bloodmyst Isle from calling for aid while mounted has been addressed. Adjustments have also been made to Warlocks' Rain of Fire, a bug that was granting too much mastery in the tailoring occupation, and a bug preventing players from accessing the Personal Tabbard Vendor in Valdrakken with their alts.

With the quest lines, Heritage Sets, and more features introduced in World of Warcraft Patch 10.2.7 drumming up excitement for the game, the minor change to Taivan is the one part of this hotfix that seems to be getting most players' attention. That's not surprising, considering how much love the "goodest boy" gets from the World of Warcraft community.
