Summary
- WoW players can now skip intro scenarios on alts after completing them once, saving significant time on secondary characters.
- The War Within beta allows skipping the expansion intro, teleporting players straight to Dornogal after talking to Jaina.
- Blizzard's decision to implement scenario skips for alts in WoW expansions is a welcome change for players looking to save time.
World of Warcraft is giving players the ability to skip the lengthy intro scenario to The War Within after they have completed it once. As soon as the new World of Warcraft expansion launches, fans should be able to jump straight to Dornogal on secondary characters, letting them save significant amounts of time on alts.
Many World of Warcraft expansions have lengthy intro scenarios, such as the Battle for the Broken Shore in Legion, the Horde’s rescue of Talanji in Battle for Azeroth, or the first descent into the Maw in Shadowlands. While awesome the first time, these scenarios can take up to an hour to complete, making them tedious chores on alts. In recent years, World of Warcraft has implemented skipping mechanics that let players bypass these scenarios on subsequent characters.
Diablo 4 is Crossing Over with World of Warcraft
World of Warcraft arrives in Diablo 4 in a big way, with tons of Azeroth-themed cosmetics available for the heroes of Sanctuary to obtain.
Thankfully, it seems World of Warcraft is doing the same in The War Within. In one of the most recent builds of The War Within beta, WoW content creator MrGM discovered that, when talking to Jaina after completing the intro scenario on a previous character, fans can skip past the beginning of the expansion, teleporting immediately to the Earthen capital city of Dornogal. This lets players optionally skip past the expansion's intro, including the questline in Dalaran available as a part of the WoW: The War Within Pre-Patch, the city's destruction, and the battle against the Nerubians among its ruins in the aftermath.
Intro Scenario Skip on Alts in WoW: The War Within
Until the Shadowlands Pre-Expansion update, scenario skips were almost unheard of – fans hoping to experience old expansion content would have to repeat these lengthy segments on every subsequent alt. As of the Shadowlands Pre-Patch, intros like the Broken Shore could be skipped, though it didn’t let players bypass the Maw for a while after. Seemingly getting this option as soon as fans finish it once in The War Within is a huge step in the right direction.
It remains to be seen exactly how leveling alts will go from levels 70 to 80 in The War Within, but players can probably expect it to be similar to Dragonflight. Fans will likely be able to explore the zones of WoW: The War Within and level via world quests, side quests, and delves, optionally playing through the main story quests in any order again if they want.
All in all, players are glad to see World of Warcraft is bringing back this feature. While having the option to replay these scenarios on extra characters is great if fans want to do so, being able to skip forward will save alt-lovers a few headaches. Between this and World of Warcraft’s recent decision to turn a popular transmog unlock bug from the beta into a feature, it seems like Blizzard has been getting more than a few big wins lately.
