World of Warcraft just revealed that players will be able to unlock the new Earthen allied race in The War Within on September 3. Though many fans hoped to unlock this new World of Warcraft race during early access, players will have to wait a little bit longer to create their Earthen characters.

The War Within, the 10th World of Warcraft expansion and the first of the Worldsoul saga, is officially live, bringing with it a bunch of new content. There are plenty of things to be excited about in the expansion, but one of its headlining features is the Earthen – the stone dwarves native to the continent of Khaz Algar, and World of Warcraft’s newest allied race.

Now, World of Warcraft has revealed exactly when players can fulfill the requirements to unlock this new allied race. In order to play as an Earthen, one must finish the story of The War Within, including its max-level campaign, and complete three side story questlines that explore their culture further. However, the final chapters of the endgame campaign are not yet available in the game. On the official WoW forum, community manager Kaivax confirmed the last part of this campaign will become available on September 3, allowing fans to finally unlock the Earthen.

How to Unlock Earthen in WoW: The War Within

  • Complete the campaign, including the quests at the level cap of WoW: The War Within.
    • The final chapter becomes available on September 3.

  • Complete the following side storylines:
    • Mourning Rise – starts with From Before I Depart from Korgran on the Isle of Dorn, ends with The Weight of Duty.
    • Broken Tools – starts with Discarded and Broken from Machinist Kitten in the Ringing Deeps, ends with Reforged Purpose.
    • Merrix and Steelvein – starts with How Scandalous! From Aldra in Dornoga, ends with Bad Business.

Though reception to the Earthen was mixed when they were first announced, especially as a Horde race, many players have begun to warm up to the new allied race. This is in no small part due to the fantastic worldbuilding of The War Within, which fans will experience while completing the unlock requirements – not to mention the charming new dances they bring to World of Warcraft.

That said, some players are not happy they have to wait even longer to make an Earthen. The new allied race was originally listed as an early access perk, so having them released nearly two weeks later disappointed fans who hoped to make one sooner. At the very least, players can complete all the other requirements while they wait so that, once September 3 hits, they can be among the first Earthen to emerge from the Awakening Machine in World of Warcraft.
