In WoW SoD Phase 4 (and of course in vanilla WoW too), Upper Blackrock Spire is one of several dungeons that become available at max level, and a great place to farm gear, at max level. But to get into Upper Blackrock Spire, you must complete the UBRS Attunement quest chain, which allows you to unlock the door to the second half of the sprawling Blackrock Spire dungeon.
WoW SoD: How To Get Tarnished Undermine Real (& What To Do With It)
The newest upgrade currency in WoW SoD is Tarnished Undermine Reals, which can be earned easily from a variety of sources under certain restrictions.
In WoW SoD Upper Blackrock Spire is a source of some of the best Phase 4 gear – Pre-BiS and BiS equipment both. Plus, the dungeon drops some unique items like Pip's Skinner, which is required to be able to skin Onyxia's hide. How To Unlock Upper Blackrock Spire – Full Attunement Guide
To unlock Upper Blackrock Spire, you must complete the quest "Seal of Ascension" and its follow-up, which grants the eponymous Seal of Ascension to unlock the entrance to UBRS. To get this quest and start Upper Blackrock Spire attunement, players must find an NPC named Vaelan inside of LBRS after collecting the Unadorned Seal of Ascension from mobs inside the instance.
Enter the dungeon, go up the stairs to the right, and fall down the ledge leading southeast. Enter the gate to your east, then continue through Hordemar City until you see a stony ramp leading upward to your left, just after the first pack of mobs standing next to a sconce. Vaelan can be found crouching on an edge after climbing this stone ramp upward, but he doesn't show himself immediately. In fact, he is disguised as a Scarshield Infiltrator until you walk up to him.
WoW SoD: All Lower Blackrock Spire Quests
The Lower Blackrock Spire dungeon is part of the Blackrock Mountain area in World of Warcraft. Here are all the quest included with it.
You will only be able to complete the quest when you have all four pieces necessary to form the Seal of Ascension. You can collect these pieces before picking up the quest to speed things up a bit, so head into LBRS, kill mobs and defeat three specific bosses to collect their Gemstones. Each Gemstone has about a one-in-five chance to drop from their associated bosses.
- The Gemstone of Spirestone drops from Highlord Omokk
- The Gemstone of Smolderthorn drops from War Master Voone
- The Gemstone of Bloodaxe drops from Overlord Wyrmthalak
You will also need to find the Unadorned Seal of Ascension, which has a small chance to drop from most enemies within the LBRS.
H ead back to the start of LBRS and find Vaelan once again, and give him the pieces. He will then direct you to Dustwallow Marsh to subjugate the Elite dragon Emberstrife. You don't actually kill Emberstrife, instead you weaken it and use the Orb of Dragonic Energy to force the Dragon to create the Forged Seal of Ascension.
Finally, head back into LBRS and find Vaelan once again, and give him the Forged Seal of Ascention. Complete this quest to get the Seal of Ascension itself, a ring that gives +10 Fire, Frost, and Nature resistance, and of course, also allows entrance into UBRS.
Upper Blackrock Spire Entrance Location In LBRS
Just like how the entrance to the Molten Core raid is located within Blackrock Depths, the entrance to Upper Blackrock Spire is found within the Lower Blackrock Spire instance. To get to Upper Blackrock Spire, head into LBRS and head up the left side of the first set of stairs. Then, turn left, and you will see a locked door.
This door leads directly into Upper Blackrock Spire, but cannot be opened without the Seal of Ascension equipped – not even by a level 60 Rogue with maxed-out Lockpicking. Once the door is open, and your party is within the instance, feel free to take off the ring and put on your normal gear again.
