Summary

  • World of Warcraft fans are frustrated that the new Blood Troll transmog reward from the Trading Post doesn't look right on actual Troll characters.
  • The bloody paint on the feet of Troll characters abruptly ends at the ankle, unlike on races with humanoid feet, like Humans and Elves.

World of Warcraft’s new Blood Troll transmog reward from the Trading Post doesn’t look right on actual Troll characters. This graphical problem is frustrating many World of Warcraft fans and has marred the excitement players have for this cosmetic set.

Each month, the Trading Post features a free reward for World of Warcraft players who earn the full Trader’s Tender allowance they can get by completing their Traveler's Log tasks. In August's catalog for the Trading Post in WoW, that reward is the Bones of the Bloodhunter transmog ensemble–a spooky set inspired by the Blood Trolls from Battle for Azeroth.

However, World of Warcraft fans noticed the bloody paint that is supposed to cover their feet doesn't show up on Troll characters who wore the foot accessories. The red coloration abruptly ends at the ankle, along with the accompanying wrappings, though races with more humanoid feet, such as Humans and Elves, have the textures applied correctly. The set otherwise lets players replicate the iconic appearance of the Blood Trolls of Nazmir almost perfectly, but it lacks this key feature on regular Trolls and the Zandalari Allied Race in World of Warcraft.

The reason this graphical error is occurring is unfortunately quite simple. Playable World of Warcraft races with non-humanoid feet, such as the hooves of Tauren and Draenei, or the two-toed feet of the Troll races, do not render most of the foot armor they wear outside a few notable exceptions. Blood Troll NPCs use unique models, allowing the bloody paint to appear on their feet, but player models simply aren’t coded to do that.

Were that not enough, the Bones of the Bloodhunter transmog set has another graphical glitch plaguing it. Part of the model for the belt is incorrectly tied to the leg portion of this set for every race except for Humans. This means non-Human players seeking to use just the belt, or trying to mix and match the transmog ensemble in World of Warcraft, cannot easily do so without it looking incomplete or glitched. Unlike the Troll feet, this is likely an actual bug, and will hopefully be fixed soon.

Fans are understandably disappointed by this unfortunate feature of the Blood Troll set. Though the transmog was made for Trolls more than any other race, they aren’t even able to completely use the whole thing. Nevertheless, players have already begun to make some incredible outfits for both Troll and non-Troll characters using these cosmetics. Hopefully, World of Warcraft can fix this glitch and give Trolls their bloody feet so fans can enjoy every part of this new ensemble.
