World of Warcraft recently shared a short video detailing some amazing one-month statistics for Plunderstorm, with over half a million games and counting. The new battle royale game mode in World of Warcraft has been wildly popular, and these stats back up just how successful the experiment has been.
Plunderstorm is a piratical battle royale game mode in World of Warcraft where 60 players compete either solo or in groups of two or three to become the last ones standing. Would-be Plunderlords drop into the Arathi Highlands to fight over spells and Plunder as the ever-encroaching Storm forces them into a final confrontation.
Now that Plunderstorm has been in WoW for just about a month, Blizzard has shared some staggering statistics about the game mode. Over half a million Plunderstorm matches have been played so far, with at least one single player winning 321 of them. The video shared some surprising facts, including that all the Health Brews drunk in games so far could fill 279 Olympic pools, that Tarantulas were the deadliest monsters in the game, and that Basic Attacks comprised 31% of all kills.

The wild experiment that is Plunderstorm has been a drastic step away from typical WoW. The game mode went through many iterations and almost looked much different from what World of Warcraft players received. It hasn’t been perfect, and though it has been generally received favorably, it has not gone without criticism from some fans. That said, if these statistics are any indication, it is clear Plunderstorm has made an indelible mark on World of Warcraft.
So far, World of Warcraft hasn’t given players a solid end date for Plunderstorm, but early reports said it would likely last for about six weeks. That means fans can expect the battle royale game mode to be available until at least the end of the month, if not longer, which should give players plenty of time to earn all the available World of Warcraft rewards from Plunderstorm.
Were that not exciting enough, World of Warcraft recently announced WoW Remix: Mists of Pandaria. Like Plunderstorm, this limited-time event will give fans the chance to experience most of the quests, scenarios, dungeons, and raids from Mists of Pandaria, but with modern convenience and class balance. Players will be able to enjoy this new PvE event alongside Patch 10.2.7 – the final content update before The War Within Pre-Patch.
