Though some parts of the player housing system will be unavailable in World of Warcraft until Midnight goes live, Blizzard confirmed that some features, like decorating and furniture collecting, will be part of the early access window. World of Warcraft players who pre-order the upcoming Midnight expansion will be granted early access to player housing once the game's 11.2.7 update goes live on December 2.
Along with reworking the region of Quel'thalas, player housing is one of the headline features of World of Warcraft: Midnight. Though other MMORPGs like Final Fantasy 14 and The Elder Scrolls Online have long had player housing as a focus, World of Warcraft's iteration looks to give Alliance and Horde players their own pieces of virtual real estate. Some housing items that World of Warcraft players can display in their homes include trophies from past raids, various pieces of furniture from vendors, and other items that players can craft via professions. Additionally, a player's home will remain available even if their subscription lapses.
World of Warcraft Shares What Players Can Do During Housing Early Access
After revealing that World of Warcraft player housing would be part of Patch 11.2.7, Blizzard gave fans more details on what they can do with their virtual real estate starting December 2. Once Patch 11.2.7 goes live, World of Warcraft subscribers who have already pre-ordered Midnight will gain early access to player housing ahead of the expansion's 2026 launch. Current and returning players will automatically receive a quest that will take them to the Housing tutorial, where they can learn about owning and decorating their virtual abodes. Creating a neighborhood, planning layouts, and furniture rewards from professions and past raids will be part of the early access window. Players without Midnight can still collect housing items and visit neighborhoods, though owning a home will require access to the expansion.
Some features, including endeavors, will remain unavailable until Midnight is launched in 2026. Blizzard has not officially stated when Midnight will arrive, so players must wait for more information. That said, player housing is not the only thing coming in WoW's next content update. The main story of World of Warcraft Patch 11.2.7, The Warning, will serve as a prelude to Midnight. Players will team up with Arator, the son of Turalyon and Alleria Windrunner, on a quest that will set the tone for the second chapter of the Worldsoul Saga.
Other features in the 11.2.7 update include Pandaren Heritage Armor, the return of the fan-favorite Brawler's Guild, and the next edition of Turbulent Timeways. Between the player housing early access window and the ongoing Legion Remix event, World of Warcraft players should have plenty of content to consume this holiday season.
World of Warcraft is an incredibly successful MMORPG that has been going strong for almost two decades. It's one of the highest-grossing franchises in history and is widely considered the most popular MMORPG ever made.
