Vereesa Windrunner is finally coming back, seemingly as a part of World of Warcraft Patch 11.2.7 in a narrative bridge between The War Within and Midnight. Though it hasn’t been officially revealed yet, evidence pulled from the World of Warcraft: Midnight alpha all but confirms the missing Windrunner sister’s role in the patch, as well as its title: “Visions of a Shadowed Sun.”

Of the three Windrunner sisters, Vereesa is the most often overlooked. She had roles in parts of Cataclysm, Mists of Pandaria, Legion, and Battle for Azeroth, and made background appearances in Shadowlands and Dragonflight, but has otherwise played second-fiddle to many characters, least of all Sylvanas. Despite being missing until Legion, even Alleria has received more attention than Vereesa, with the Void Elf taking a prominent role in The War Within.

World of Warcraft revives a popular feature in The War Within Patch 11.2.7 that it hasn't talked about since the era of Battle for Azeroth.

Vereesa Windrunner Set to Return in WoW Patch 11.2.7

Now, it seems like Vereesa is finally being given the chance to take center stage for the first time in over five years. Wowhead datamined not only a new character model for Vereesa sporting an updated transmog, but an in-game cinematic model as well. String text from the associated questlines suggests players will venture to Oztan Isle, off the coast of the Isle of Dorn, along with Vereesa and Alleria’s son Arator to “deal with the dire Radiant Song visions Vereesa has been having.” Broadcast text pertaining to this quest referencing them, and Vereesa’s late husband Rhonin, were also discovered.

Aside from datamining, evidence corroborating this can be found directly in the World of Warcraft: Midnight alpha. Two new story achievements are visible in the interface: Visions of a Shadowed Sun and Ready for Midnight. The first features three subchapters titled Radiant Visions, A Meeting with Minn’da, and Paths Forward. Given the context, it seems extremely likely that this is the same story reference in the datamine, and that “Visions of a Shadowed Sun” may be the name of the story campaign, if not Patch 11.2.7 itself.

In early alpha builds of The War Within, Vereesa was not even mentioned, despite the destruction of her home city of Dalaran in the opening chapter. WoW later added dialogue from Alleria explaining her sister’s absence, but it was no less keenly felt by fans of the forgotten Windrunner. Needless to say, players are looking forward to finally seeing her again.

Vereesa isn’t the only member of the Windrunner family coming back, either. In addition to his debut in this questline, Arator plays a prominent role in World of Warcraft: Midnight, despite not having appeared outside of illusions since Legion. Likewise, hints from Blizzard also suggest that Sylvanas will show up after her send-off at the end of Shadowlands. With Alleria also set to appear in Midnight, fans of the Windrunners are eating well in the Worldsoul Saga.
