World of Warcraft might be planning on bringing back the $90 Trader’s Gilded Brutosaur mount in the near future. While nothing is set in stone, a new database entry in the World of Warcraft: Midnight alpha suggests players could see this controversial mount return to the cash shop once again.

The Trader’s Gilded Brutosaur was a massive mount World of Warcraft sold in the cash shop from December 20, 2024, through January 6, 2025. Despite an exorbitant price of $90, the Trader’s Gilded Brutosaur sold insanely well, with an estimated 188,000 accounts believed to have purchased it, netting Blizzard approximately $15 million in the process.

World of Warcraft’s $90 Brutosaur Mount Might Return Soon

Now, it seems like the Trader’s Gilded Brutosaur might be returning to the shop once again. On a recent build of the World of Warcraft: Midnight alpha, Icy Veins discovered an entry in the InterfaceManifestationData table called CatalogShopWideCardBrutosaurComebackROW.BLP, with a path connected to the in-game store. This datamined file is almost certainly associated with some kind of store promotional material which, judging from the name, is a comeback of the Brutosaur mount.

It is important to note that this does not guarantee the Trader’s Gilded Brutosaur is returning for certain, nor does it confirm when it would arrive if it does. However, the controversial mount was first introduced during World of Warcraft’s 20th anniversary event, so it is possible Blizzard might bring it back this year around the same time.

world of warcraft trader's gilded brutosaur features

What made the Trader’s Gilded Brutosaur so popular was that it came with a mobile Auctioneer NPC – the only such mount to do so besides the Mighty Caravan Brutosaur, an even more expensive mount that could only be purchased during Battle for Azeroth, and now only rarely shows up on the Black Market Auction House for millions of gold. That said, unlike its predecessor, the Trader’s Gilded Brutosaur also has a mailbox NPC, making it especiallyy unique. Even so, the fact the mount alone costs as much as pre-purchasing the Epic Edition of World of Warcraft: Midnight drew a fair bit of flack from the community.

For better or worse, the World of Warcraft cash shop is about to get a lot of new items soon. Housing is coming to World of Warcraft in Midnight, with early access opening December 2 in Patch 11.2.7. While most Housing decor will be obtainable in game, Blizzard has confirmed some will appear in the store as well. Fans will have to see how this exciting feature affects the cash shop once it arrives.
