World of Warcraft players can look forward to a fan-favorite character making another appearance in Dragonflight Patch 10.0.7. It seems the sad old dragon who touched the hearts of World of Warcraft players who met him has more stories to tell those who stay a while and listen.

Veritistrasz is an old red dragon that takes the visage of a dwarf who players can encounter near the Ruby Lifeshrine in the Waking Shores. His sidequest, Stay a While, became one of the most acclaimed stories in all of Dragonflight, leading World of Warcraft to share a behind-the-scenes blog discussing its creation.

It seems Veritistrasz’s story in World of Warcraft is far from over. The old dragon appears in a new sidequest in Patch 10.0.7 involving a hyperactive young black dragon named Voraxian. The rambunctious drake discovers an ancient relic and beseeches the player to help him find someone to unlock its secrets. The player character then introduces him to Veritistrasz, who dispels the mystery surrounding the object.

Once players complete the quest, Voraxian stays with Veritistrasz, where the two of them enjoy a new view of the Dragon Isles together. However, datamined files indicate World of Warcraft players will be able to listen in on more conversations between the two dragons. This dialogue is currently unavailable on the Public Test Realm, so players will probably have to wait until World of Warcraft Patch 10.0.7 goes live in the spring to see the full conversation.

Players are excited to see more of Veritistrasz in Dragonflight. The old dragon’s tragic tale of lost love tugged at the heartstrings of those who met him, and many fans are excited they can help him aid World of Warcraft's new black dragonflight as it recovers from Deathwing’s betrayal. Most players hope Veritistrasz’s popularity leads his story to continue all throughout Dragonflight.

On the other hand, some players are concerned World of Warcraft might overuse the character. The Stay a While quest was impactful because of the immaculate writing, world-building, and emotion it represented–and partly because it did not overstay its welcome. Some fans fear the more the character is used, the more likely it ruins what made Stay a While impactful to many World of Warcraft players.

Nevertheless, Veritistrasz remains an excellent example of the excellent writing most of Dragonflight has had. Players won’t have to wait long to see if the next chapter of Veritistrasz’s story, or other upcoming tales like World of Warcraft’s new Orc Heritage Armor Questline, can continue the quality shown in Dragonflight.

World of Warcraft is available now for PC.
