World of Warcraft is getting rid of some bizarre class NPCs previously found in Horde cities on its Public Test Realm for Dragonflight Patch 10.0.5. These NPCs are being removed at the behest of World of Warcraft players who were confused and annoyed at their presence.
Dragonflight added the ability for World of Warcraft characters of any race to be mages, priests, or rogues. When Dragonflight Patch 10.0.5 releases on January 19, World of Warcraft is adding NPCs reflecting these new class and race combinations to the capital cities of the Horde and Alliance, as well as some Class Order Halls.
However, the new NPCs for Orc, Tauren, and Highmountain Tauren priests had World of Warcraft players scratching their heads. Instead of these NPCs showcasing a unique cultural take of their own for the priest class, the characters were clad in generic garb reminiscent of the Alliance’s Holy Light church, and had names like “Brother Shineblade” and “Sister Brighttusk.” As of the latest PTR build, these NPCs have been removed, and will eventually be replaced–hopefully with more lore-appropriate characters.
The new priest NPCs were the only ones players had any issues with. World of Warcraft’s new rogue NPCs are hilarious, and the mage NPCs simply make sense. None of these additions break the existing lore of World of Warcraft, while the new priest NPCs suggest Horde characters adopting the church of their Alliance rivals–a development fans consider boring at best and problematic at worst.
Players are glad World of Warcraft is removing and reworking these NPCs. Adding new class trainers and other NPCs to the world is an easy way to enhance the flavor of World of Warcraft. The uniqueness of the classes and races in World of Warcraft is part of what makes them special, so almost every player sees the decision to fix these NPCs as a win.
Dragonflight Patch 10.0.5 is adding some exciting features to World of Warcraft. In addition to these new flavorful NPCs, World of Warcraft is adding the Trading Post–a long-awaited feature that enables players to collect unique cosmetics by completing tasks each month. Players will also be able to transmog white and gray items, which players have been begging for since the cosmetic system was introduced. With these updates, UI, and accessibility options, and new story content coming soon, World of Warcraft players have plenty to look forward to in the next few months.
World of Warcraft is available now for PC.
