World of Warcraft may have just teased an exciting new customization option for Dracthyr characters coming in the future. Though there is no concrete evidence this option will be made available for players, it would give World of Warcraft fans an unexpected way to customize their Dracthyr Evokers.
Recently, World of Warcraft started a new behind-the-scenes developer broadcast called WoWCast. During the first episode of this new show, World of Warcraft talked about the impending Embers of Neltharion update and dropped some big hints as to where Dragonflight might be going next.
However, some keen-eyed fans noticed another secret hidden amidst the broadcast. Just before the 36-minute mark of the video, World of Warcraft associate game director Morgan Day talked about the new gear progression and tier sets coming in Embers of Neltharion. A short clip of footage then showed off the new armor from the Aberrus raid in Dragonflight. The Dracthyr Evoker is front and center, but when he transformed from his draconic form to his Visage, the particle effects of the ability are sandy like the Bronze Dragonflight, rather than the default Red Dragon magic Dracthyr use now.
This could mean World of Warcraft is implementing a way for Dracthyr to customize the particle effects they use when shapeshifting into and out of their different forms. It is possible this effect could be a passive effect of the tier set, a customizable quest unlock, or even a new glyph coming to Dragonflight. It is also possible World of Warcraft could add transformation effects related to the Black, Blue, or Green Dragonflights later on as well.
Players would absolutely love it if World of Warcraft added this as an extra option for Dracthyr. Few fans would be upset with having more ways to customize their characters, and letting Dracthyr add this personalized flourish to match their aesthetic and play style would be a huge win. Glyphs were also a popular feature since their original introduction, and players would be excited to see even more added to the game in the future.
That said, it is important to note there is no official word on Dracthyr getting options to customize their visage transformations just yet. The only evidence these options might be coming is this short clip, so they are as likely to be nonexistent as they are to be in the works. Only time will tell as World of Warcraft continues to release content to match its ambitious release schedule for 2023.
World of Warcraft is available now for PC.
