A dedicated World of Warcraft fan recently showed off their complete set of Collector’s Editions from across the game’s 20 years of history. Finishing this impressive collection of World of Warcraft gear was quite a costly endeavor, but one that was more than worth it.
Each of World of Warcraft’s 9 expansions, plus Vanilla WoW, each had a Collector’s Edition available. These premium editions often include several collector’s items, such as art books, mouse pads, posters, maps, and in-game items for World of Warcraft and other Blizzard games like Diablo and Overwatch.
Redditor and World of Warcraft fan Askarth_ recently gathered all of these premium editions for their personal collections. They showed off all ten – the box for Vanilla WoW and every expansion from Burning Crusade through Dragonflight – along with several statues of World of Warcraft characters like Illidan Stormrage, Rehgar, Varian Wrynn, and Varok Saurfang, in a stunning and impressive display. This awe-inspiring hoard of collector’s items is enough to make any World of Warcraft fan envious.
Tracking all 10 Collector’s Editions down was no small feat. Doing so required due diligence on Askarth_’s part, as they had to monitor multiple online shops with the hope that some of the rarest Collector’s Editions would appear on them. Buying the Vanilla WoW Collector's Edition – one of the last ones they needed – cost them $185 alone. Between the statues, the full premium boxes, and steep international shipping prices, Askarth_’s World of Warcraft collection easily runs well over $2,000.
Askarth_’s fellow World of Warcraft fans were unsurprisingly impressed by the collection. Many fans asked how they were able to track all of them down, how much they cost, and in what condition they were in. Others shared pictures of their own Collector’s Editions sets they had collected over the years. The post had received hundreds of upvotes and 70 comments within the first few hours of its publication.
This impressive set of World of Warcraft collectibles won’t be complete for much longer. Dragonflight is more than halfway through its lifespan, with Patch 10.2 planned for release before the end of the year. Many players suspect World of Warcraft may announce its next expansion pack during BlizzCon in early November, and anticipate the new release some time in 2024. Askarth_ and their fellow fans can almost certainly expect a Collector’s Edition box for this unannounced expansion pack as well, so they must prepare to pre-order it if they want to keep their collections up to date.
World of Warcraft is available now for PC.
