World of Warcraft Classic Season of Discovery Phase 4 added a new dungeon called Demon Fall Canyon. While previous phases of the World of Warcraft servers have revamped certain instances in the past, Demon Fall Canyon is special in that it is a Season of Discovery original.

Recently, World of Warcraft Classic rolled out its first max level update for Season of Discovery. Among other things, the fourth phase of the experimental servers adds tons of new Rune engravings, the Blackrock Eruptions world event in the Burning Steppes and Searing Gorge, and instanced raid versions Azuregos and Doom Lord Kazzak – two iconic world bosses from World of Warcraft Classic – as well as revamped versions of Molten Core and Onyxia’s Lair.

However, one of WoW Classic Season of Discovery Phase 4’s biggest surprises came in the form of a brand-new dungeon. Though it was hinted at in the World of Warcraft Classic Season of Discovery patch notes, fans have now identified the dungeon as Demon Fall Canyon, a secluded, corrupted region in southeast Ashenvale. By completing the Demonic Deceptions quest, acquired by the Shadowtooth Emissary in Felwood, players can attune to this level 55-60 dungeon and challenge six new boss encounters that have never been seen in WoW before.

  • A new level 55-60 dungeon only found in WoW Classic Season of Discovery, located in southeast Ashenvale.
  • Demon Fall Canyon requires attunement in order to enter it.
    • Pick up the Demonic Deceptions quest from the Shadowtooth Emissary in Felwood.
    • Obtain 6 Owlbeast Pineal Glands from Berserk Owlbeasts in Winterspring, north of Everlook.
    • Complete the quest to get the Shadowtooth Illusion Ward, which allows players to see the dungeon entrance.

  • Demon Fall Canyon has six bosses:
    • Grimroot, The Mourning Guardian – a corrupted Ancient of Lore
    • The Destructor’s Wraith – a manifestation of Mannoroth in the form of a spectral Felguard
    • Zilbagob – an imp piloting a Goblin shredder
    • Pyranis – a corrupted Druid
    • Diathorus the Seeker – a Dreadlord
    • Hellscream’s Phantom – an echo of Grommash Hellscream

Demon Fall Canyon is the location where Grommash Hellscream slew Mannoroth, the demon whose blood corrupted the Orcs, during Warcraft 3. The location can be visited in other forms of WoW, though it contains little more than the floating, shattered glaive of the Pit Lord and a monument to the legendary World of Warcraft orc who destroyed him. Now, Season of Discovery has taken this important lore spot and transformed it into a whole dungeon.

Were the instance not exciting enough on its own, Shadow of Gorehowl, a Season of Discovery version of Grom’s weapon, drops from Hellscream’s Phantom, the last boss in the dungeon. Needless to say, players hoping to wield one of the most iconic axes in World of Warcraft history won’t want to miss out on this brand-new dungeon.
