World of Warcraft is making an alphabet book full of iconic characters and locations from across Azeroth. A is for Azeroth: The ABC’s of World of Warcraft is currently slated for release on July 25, 2023.
The upcoming World of Warcraft alphabet book will be written by award-winning author Christie Golden. Though fans will recognize her work across many games, shows, and original settings, Golden has written dozens of stories for Warcraft and StarCraft, including the recent Sylvanas novel.
A is for Azeroth: The ABC’s of World of Warcraft is the next installment of Golden’s exploration of the expansive lore of the WoW universe. The 32-page book promises tons of original art of fan-favorite characters from across the many World of Warcraft expansions in a charming, unique art style. Though short and sweet, the officially-licensed alphabet book promises to be an approachable guide to Azeroth for all ages, and will share its lore in a way that is as informative as it is adorable and funny. The hardcover book is listed for $17, and is currently available for pre-order on Amazon.
World of Warcraft recently announced The Dragonflight Codex: A Definitive Guide to the Dragons of Azeroth as well. This lore book, currently scheduled for an August 15, 2023 release, is an encyclopedia-like tour of the Dragon Isles featured in the upcoming Dragonflight expansion. The field guide will be narrated by Archmage Khadgar–who was briefly and erroneously identified as a bronze dragon in the description of the book–and will expand upon Dragonflight’s lore like how World of Warcraft: Grimoire of the Shadowlands and Beyond did with Shadowlands.
Players are interested to see what Golden’s charming new World of Warcraft book will look like. Amazon does not have a cover or any pictures listed right now, so players can only imagine what the cute artstyle will look like in its finished state. While World of Warcraft has published fairy tale books, young adult fiction, and children’s short stories before, an alphabet book is something players did not expect to see.
If A is for Azeroth can bring happiness to old fans, or get tomorrow’s champions interested in World of Warcraft, it can be considered a success.
World of Warcraft is available now for PC. Dragonflight launches on November 28.
