How to beat level 21 of I’m Not a Robot – Craft a diamond pickaxe in Minecraft

This one's quite easy if you're familiar with Minecraft.

Neal Agarwal’s I’m Not a Robot browser game introduces the CRAFTCHA puzzle on level 21, where you must rely on your Minecraft knowledge to build a diamond pickaxe. This clever challenge draws on one of gaming’s most iconic crafting recipes, pushing you to combine resource management with precise placement in the familiar 3×3 crafting grid.

It’s a test of memory as much as skill, designed to reward players who understand the fundamentals of Minecraft’s crafting system. You’re given only three diamonds and two oak logs to start, which means you’ll need to think carefully about how to convert those raw materials into sticks and then use them alongside the diamonds to complete the recipe.

Here’s everything you need to know about completing level 21’s diamond pickaxe crafting challenge in I’m Not a Robot.

How to craft a diamond pickaxe in I’m Not a Robot

The crafting system in level 21 feels instantly familiar to anyone who has played Minecraft. The 3×3 grid setup mirrors the original game’s crafting table, with your inventory on one side and the output slot on the other.

Just like in Minecraft, when you line up the right combination of materials, the finished item appears in the result box. It’s a straightforward design choice, but one that makes this challenge click with those who already know the mechanics. What really makes this puzzle engaging is the way it forces you to think about resource transformation.

You can’t drop oak logs straight into the grid and expect them to work as a handle. Instead, you have to break them down into planks and then refine some of those planks into sticks. It’s the classic Minecraft resource chain, recreated step by step. The drag-and-drop system runs smoothly, and the option to right-click and split stacks adds a layer of precision that becomes essential when dividing planks into smaller components.

The process begins with your two oak logs, out of which you’ll place one of them into the grid to generate four oak planks. From there, you’ll need to convert two of those planks into sticks by stacking them vertically in the middle column of the grid. That gives you four sticks; however, you’ll only need two for the pickaxe.

By this point, you should have the three diamonds and two sticks for the handle to build the diamond pickaxe. Assembling the pickaxe is where everything comes together. Place your two sticks down the middle column of the grid: one in the center and one directly beneath it. Then take the three diamonds and line them up across the top row, filling all three slots as shown in the screenshot below.

This forms the recognizable diamond pickaxe shape, with the sticks creating the handle and the diamonds forming the blade. Once positioned correctly, the completed tool will appear in the output slot, ready to be claimed. Completing the CRAFTCHA challenge is about applying well-known Minecraft logic in a new environment.

The level blends nostalgia with problem-solving, making players feel rewarded for remembering recipes while navigating the added twist of the browser game’s mechanics. It’s a clever way of turning a familiar system into a fresh challenge, perfectly capturing the mix of creativity and precision that both games thrive on.
