It was three years ago that Wolcen: Lords of Mayhem made its way onto Steam in Early Access, and after lots of fine-tuning and improvements, it finally launched. With a launch trailer that displays the best of Wolcen, both in terms of gameplay and in story, it seems set to be a huge hit with fans of isometric, action-filled RPGs.

Wolcen: Lords of Mayhem's story follows a pair of siblings in the army of the United Republic of Mankind, a warmongering nation that treats all magic as witchcraft, in an attempt to purge the forces that threaten them from the world. Its gameplay follows the siblings as they cleave through hordes of foes with precarious tactics, flashy spells, awesome weapons, and seriously cool transformations. It almost feels like someone merged WarhammerDiablo, and Devil May Cry together, which is great news for Diablo fans.

With all of the hype surrounding it, some fans of the game wondered if Wolcen would be making its way to consoles, especially the Xbox One and PlayStation 4. At the moment, there is no release date for the game on either system, and no immediate plans by the developers to port the games to those systems. The group behind the game has said on Twitter that it would like to bring Wolcen to Xbox One at least, but wants to make sure it runs smoothly and gains a decent audience on PC before moving it to other systems. Considering the fact that Wolcen is currently experiencing post-launch troubles, this is probably the best move on the developer's part.

Wolcen's presence on PC is likely already scratching an itch that many gamers are waiting for Diablo 4 to fill, so its home on Steam is practically assured already. The fact of the matter is that there is a limited pool of games for players who want the Diablo experience, and Wolcen fits very nicely into that pool.

This does leave Wolcen in the precarious position of being a direct competitor to Diablo 4 when it finally releases, which could be an incentive to jump to other consoles and pick up new players. After all, the Diablo series has some very loyal and very creative fans, and they will flock to Diablo 4 when it hits shelves if only to wash the bad taste of Diablo Immortal's reveal out of their mouths.
