Players can and should feel the need to specialize in Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty. Trying to be good at everything usually means being good at nothing. A well-rounded build might sound good, but players can get a respec for free to counter certain bosses and missions. It's better to change builds to counter bosses than it is to try and have one build that handles everything.RELATED: Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty - How To Play With Friends However, before pouring every stat into a specific virtue, know that Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty has some soft caps to be aware of. At certain points, the value of each level declines. Every build should therefore know when to stop dumping pointing into a certain virtue as they'll see a bigger difference out of another one.

Most builds, even with weapons that don't rely on the wood attribute, will want to invest in Wood simply because it gives a nice buffer of health. Even players at the maximum level can get one-shot by bosses without some kind of wood virtue investment.Spirit defense is a big deal and the gain per point actually increases until level 30. It's still high until about 40, at which point it falls off a big. Having about 30 points in Wood for most builds is a wise idea and Wood builds should consider putting between 40 and 40 points in this. It's the most important attribute to get early.

Most players who use the Fire virtue will prioritize using Martial Arts over spells, but most builds do not use these often. Even so, it's not a bad idea to get an even level in this attribute to get some extra spirit back when attacking. This particular feature has no cap at all.RELATED: Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty - Best Weapons For A Wood Build Most builds prioritize getting deflections over attacking to acquire starts of spirit, but particular offensive builds may want to rely more on attacks than deflections. Getting one single rank in Fire will increase spirit gain on attacks by 1%.

It's hard to measure soft caps for the Earth attribute because this all has to do with which armor set players will use. The importance of achieving an A rating in agility means being under 30% of the armor's weight. The best light armor for most builds (Dong Zhuo Soldier Set) only requires level 2, a single level in the Earth virtue. Medium armor is a bit more complex. The best set for most builds (Heishan Champion Set) requires a rank of 50 to keep an A in agility. Heavy armor, at the time of this writing, can't get an A in agility even with a maximum investment.Players who get a respec and prioritize Earth will enjoy the extra spirit gained from deflections. Get at least level 2 in this for a full 1% boost to spirit gain on deflection. This particular aspect of Metal has no cap.

It's quite possible to envision a build in which players won't put any points in Metal. Spirit sustainability points increase the time before positive spirit begins to decrease. Players who aren't speedrunning or chaining fights together won't use it as they're used to starting out neutral.RELATED: Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty - Best Weapons For A Metal Build Most builds will at least cast a few support spells, so the reduction in the cost of those is helpful over the course of a lengthy campaign. Some spellcasters will want at least 30 points in Metal, but about 10-15 is plenty for most other builds.

In the spirit of the Soulslike genre, parrying, blocking, and deflecting is the core gameplay mechanic. Players with no points in Water will find their defenses shattered almost instantly. The spirit consumption rate on deflection has an early soft cap, but putting either 20 or 30 points in this will result in longer longevity in prolonged battles.Water is part of the best staff build because of how it maintains the ability to deflect attacks without cracking. Stealth is a fairly irrelevant statistic because bosses generally present the biggest hurdle on missions and they can't be stealthed away from.Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty is available now for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.MORE: Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty - Best Weapons For A Fire Build
